Marcelo out for minimum of 2 weeks.

Casemiro out 3 weeks min... but, as ESPN reports, it's a fracture so it's more likey to be 1-2 months ffs.

That decision not to have a Casemiro backup Laughing hardly believable tbh

So let's see how many points we drop based on that.

Too me I looked at how shaky Varane and Ramos were vs Villarreal and I can't help but think that no DM in front of them that can actually run, tackle and discourage the other team from playing down the middle is a huge factor in how they look.

Hopefully it goes alright if not it's all on Zidane

It was a combo of no Casemiro and having both Danilo and Marcelo on the pitch methinks... the CBs were worrying about things they shouldn't be worrying about so they looked shaky overall.

Carvajal and Nacho with no Casemiro may be ok. Marcelo is out too remember. It may balance itself out.

i have never understood the 'no back-up' policy that madrid sometimes chooses to adopt. you can understand no back up with someone like say cristiano, whose desire for individual laurels means he'll hardly be out or hardly be out for long. when you start seeing guys who have no back-ups are guys who can get injured without being tackled, you wonder the reasoning behind all this

smh and lol at coentrao being marcelo's back up. what kind of world are we living in? a back-up should be ready to be called upon, not someone who gets injured fror looking at a cup of ice tea

Modric out 3-4 weeks.

So no Casemiro or Modric, our two best defending CMs.

Kroos/James/Isco/Kova Laughing I feel bad for our back 4.

Might be a good time to play a back 5.

Carvajal - Varane - Pepe - Ramos - Danilo
Kroos
Isco - James
Benz - Ronaldo

Pseudo 5-3-2

Or at least play one of Varana/Pepe as a DM.

Not buying a back - up is probably the biggest mistake we all saw coming.

Ramos is out for tomorrow too... forgot to mention that lol.

Pepe-Varane is a lot more solid defensively anyhow. Given Marcelo is injured as well, i think we'll see

Carvajal-Pepe-Varane-Danilo

At least that's pretty good defensively. Issue will be that there will be no midfield cover at all. All 4 need to have very good discipline.

Who is the genius that said we dont need a back up to Casemiro and we should probably loan out Llorente too?

I thought it was a fait accompli that we were buying a backup DM or physical CM and a backup LB during the summer Laughing I also thought that one of Isco or James would go for sure too.

But those were logical and common sense moves. I should have known better.

Llorente would not have played in Casemiro's absence had he stayed. It was important for him to leave and get minutes and in doing that could showcase his abilities in the first division.

I agree Hala. But the issue is that you only loan him IF you have a proper backup to Casemiro. If you loan him AND you get nobody = complete stupidity.

Dont understand why Madrid never went for William Carvahlo from Sporting. Would have fit like a glove and is more composed under pressure than Casemiro, which isn't saying much Laughing

Benzema came into the game with a knee injury and was taken out because he aggravated it.

Varane has a knee injury as well.

benzema had a knee injury? i thought they said it was his hip. i remember he was going to miss the season opener because of a hip injury, last season they were talking about his back. and if he wasn't suspended he'd have still gone to the euros with all this? now its his knee? what part of his anatomy will be hurt next at this rate? and he keeps starting, i'm sure he'll start again after the break

i bet even if we didn't have a transfer ban, the team won't see it sensible to go the co-cf route....i'm sorry, morata works hard, but for a team that needs goals and finesse type forwards, i don't see him as that guy. he'll go at players, but he's just too rough on the edges. he really needs to improve on scoring and his presence of mind in the final third to make any reasonable run....if not, benzema with a knee and hip injury will still bench him

It was his knee and hip both before the season. He tried playing with the bad knee and his hip got strained too in the process (happens when you play injured as you compensate)... it's the same injury. His knee is still flaring up. Not a good sign. He may need surgery if it doesn't correct itself with rest at some point.

Post by titosantill Sun 02 Oct 2016, 22:15

so his hip and knee have been bothering him and the club haven't seen it fit to consider good alternatives. instead went for a striker that zidane apparently has little faith in, just so we don't promote competition? its this kind of thinking that never seizes to amaze me about madrid. benzema is almost 30, a hip and knee injury and we have morata as the solution to that? lol

btw i'm not into talking about medical staff, i think some of our players, guys like marcelo might have poor habits. the last time we had a player injured as a result of a tackle was probably jese. with our guys, you just wake up one morning and hear "this guy is injured, out for 7 weeks". even if we got the best medical team in the universe, the best they'll do is reduce a 7 week injury to 4. i'm sure bale too will soon get his bout of season injuries....coentrao should really consider retirement imo. unfair as it sounds but it is what it is

@tito.  Management at Madrid is elected by the fans.  Flo is a political animal and keeping on popular Spanish players is always going to get the nod.  I understand it and it's pretty normal.

The problem is that we don't make common sense moves.  There's absolute ZERO justification for not backing up Casemiro and Marcelo properly.  That's just negligent.

I honestly believe that if we had a proper backup DM, our team balance wouldn't be as completely screwed up as it has been the last 3 games.

I'd consider putting Nacho as a DM.

nacho? come on....to be honest, i'm not a big fan of nacho. i mean he hasn't gotten enough appearances for me to reach a conclusion about him. i know i said zidane needs to try something drastic, but nacho at dm is a bit extreme. how about kovacic? my worry with him is he may become too adventurous, but i don't see why we have him in the team and isco is getting minutes.....i'm not really into the spanish team, but i'm also surprised why they're calling him up? like why is isco getting all these chances? maybe there's something he's doing on the pitch that i'm not noticing
