I thought it was great, better than the first and I really enjoyed the first season.
His father is the best character in any show
I just realized those are his actual parents

It's going to be a truer adaptation of the books.
That's good. Means I'll get something new since I've not read any of them.
Hope there's still succubusses in the game

It's probably too early to make a separate thread for the show too. RG should put it all in Netflix thread

Last episode of the Leftovers was a doozy. What a season this show is having. Way better than season 2.

How have we gotten to a point in human history where a show like the big bang theory, thoroughly average (AT BEST) is getting a spin off? And one with a child actor as the main character no less
This will crash and burn

It keeps getting better every season. I'm glad I stuck with it.

The first seasons of Big Bang Theory were really good. It got dragged down to utter shit tho later.

Agreed. Show is beyond shit now and now a spin-off?? Sheldon is way past his serviceability and people hate him now more than they love him. And this young version sounds even more annoying.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
After many many years of going through the show, starting it, stopping it, rewatching a season because I took too long and forgot what happened etc I'm finally on the final season of Justified and getting through it at about an episode per night pace.
Enjoying it. Justified is such a great show, my incredibly slow pace and seeming disinterest in the show belies how good I think it is. I just don't watch much TV anymore, is all. Focus shifted to movies much more a couple years back and haven't really looked back. Trying to get back into TV a bit though.
At the same time as that, I'm watching a couple episodes here or there of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. People here watch it? It's a great show. Hilarious.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I've only now discovered The Office (US version) and it's already one of the funniest shows of all time for me. I mean I knew The Office was a popular show (and have seen many many gifs related to the show) but I never watched it.
I've binged the whole first season tonight, I swear every character from Michael to Kevin is f hilarious.
I'll be checking out the UK version too because apparently it's even better.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Anybody else here really enjoying American Gods? I'm loving it so far. I might not be the best judge because you can put Ian McShane reading a transcript of BarcaLearning's posts and I would still consider it award worthy but I'm really enjoying all of it. The anachronistic storytelling, all the great cameos (I don't know, but really hope, that these earlier characters are coming back), the visual effects, all have been great so far. I feel like it has a bit of The Leftovers' vibe to it with all the weirdness and not really knowing where the hell things are going. Plus, Bryan fuller is running things and it's already been renewed for at least one more season.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
It's amazing, aah the memories. I think it's even better than before, even more eccentric, more of Lynch, but it fits. The first 4 episodes very as trippy as something can be, but it still feels cohesive build up. Oh and the memories...Firenze wrote:tempted to check out Twin Peaks season 3 but only if I don't have to watch the old seasons
If you haven't seen the old episodes, I think you should watch them as this is straight continuation of them, after 26 years. There's not many of them and it's still one of the best TV-series, ever. And the reboot with most of old cast is something that I can't describe really.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
13 Reasons Why was great. The negatives were it dragged on a lot (no shit, adapting a 200 page book to 13 hours), the high school sophomores looked like college seniors (thats probably what their actual age is) and a lot of these characters talked like Aristotle instead of seventeen year olds. Other than that the acting, writing and character development was very impressive.
That scene in episode 13 really fked me up, I had to look away. Anyone who saw it knows what I'm talking about.
