That 2nd half performance was pretty awful at times, we were playing with fear there. Origi should have made it 3 - 1 with the header, though, a great save from Courtois, though.

Anyway, Chelsea couldn't make their possession in the right areas count enough, so onto the Merseyside the three points go

Great start to the season all things considering (4 away games, the toughness of the schedule).

Credit where its due, Henderson was absolutely fantastic but my MOTM would be Lovren.

Matip made a horrible decision in the Costa goal but he'll only learn.

Mignolet was good enough and everyone else put in a required shift.

To be fair that was Henderson's fault for not tracking the run of Matic.

Was that Hendo or Lallana?
Matip still had no business going in like that with enough space till the byline. He was probably the first to realize it, No issues.

I'd have to watch it again but I don't think Matip couldn't have done much more to be honest. Matic's run had opened up our whole defence and he tried to make himself as big as possible to stop the cross from coming in. He needed support from midfield, regardless if it was Lallana or Hendo.

I agree with Red Alert.

The fault is Henderson/Lallana's, both of whom completely left Matic's run unattended.

Matip came to cover to stop the cross by making himself big. But once he was down on the ground he made the smartest decision possible to pull out otherwise it would have been a pen.

I dont think it was ever his intention to go into a tackle, He was just reducing the line of sight of the ball by spreading himself to block the cross which was the mistake, He should have stood his ground.

watched MOTD and short highlights like 10 times not for the goals but just cant get over the feeling !

I think it was Lallana's issue. He originally looked like he was on Matic so Henderson didn't follow him, and then Lallana just stopped following Matic which made it really hard on the defence. Either way a win's a win just need a bit better communication there.
