Re: The European Super League Megathread
Isn't there is a simple way around the 50+1 rule as well? I don't remember the details but I'm pretty sure Red Bull pulled something like this with their ownership of Leipzig.

One of the options being discussed is the German model with the 50-1 rule.

50+1 rule says commercial investors cannot have more than a 49% stake in a club and that fans must always have a majority of voting rights.
Not fans but club members
Is there a difference? By members, does that mean employees?
I suppose I don't understand the definition of the term.

I am actually disappointed that their has been this much outrage in the past 48 hours, talks of bans, fines, restarts, cancellations, legal battles and whatnot, and for the past 20 or so years, racism has been as prevalent if not more so in recent history
The most UEFA could muster is 30 second ads of face close-ups of players saying No to Racism
Fucking hell, part of me wants this whole thing to blow in UEFA's face, fuck this talk of meritocracy
Well racism is not about money. CEOs only care about profit

BREAKING
— Dan Roan (@danroan) April 20, 2021
I understand Chelsea are now preparing documentation to request withdrawing from the ESL
Funnily enough, the Premier League requires 15/20 clubs to be in favour to vote out other members...
I'm expecting City will follow.
I hope Arsenal do but given Kroenke's support for this I'm not expecting anything.

Ofcourse the two clubs primarily responsible for the inflation in the market and increasing the disparity in football would be the first ones to back out.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
I was talking about it earlier, but PR is more important for Chelsea and City than guaranteed revenue streams. Abramovich and Monsour have a lot of investment in the areas and communities around those clubs, much more so than the Glazers, Kroenkes and Fenway.
It's likely they were already reluctant before the announcement, but felt compelled to sign up so they're not left behind. It's since proven to be a horrific PR move. How they didn't see this coming is anyone's guess, but a good result has been reached in the end I guess?

If the corrupt governing bodies have an iota of self esteem left, hope they go about and implement those said measures. I would be fcking rejoice if it happens. Embarrassed and hurt to be a Man United supporter today.
What would you rejoice if the players are banned from representing their countries? this only penalizes NTs and players who had nothing to do with this. Such a misplaced assignment of blame.
Nah the NTs will only suffer initially, but in the long term, they will turn out just fine. My point is if the players are banned from representing their countries, and participating in the WC which thankfully is still the highest regarded competition, may be just may be in the future, they will think twice before signing for these 12 clubs. Also, if the footballing world on the whole is united against this malaise, then NTs not being able to field say a Harry Kane, or a Hazard in their roster for WC or Euros is a small price to pay imo, atleast for the time being. Also, Players from smaller clubs who otherwise would have to move to the bigwigs to get noticed for NT nod no longer would need to do that too.
Also, these lesser NTs like South American (lesser in financial terms), Asian and African would then have to focus on raising the quality of their leagues, and put money into domestic comps now that their biggest players are unavailable for selection. So, they will hopefully restrict and encourage their young emerging players to stay in the domestic leagues.
Players are not at fault now, true. But they will be once this whole shitshow kicks off and they start to earn their 500k and soon start to turn a blind eye. IMO if this materializes this generation of players is sadly lost. NTs and us fans should look to safeguard the coming ones.

Absolutely they dont need the money but surely they would have known this was going to be a PR nightmare. A freshman studying basic marketing/PR would have seen this coming
