Heard Hillary had to leave the memorial service due to health issues. Is she really ok?

Re: US Presidential Race
That looked legitimately bad for her, health-wise.
Her campaign won't be able to shrug this off and they shouldn't. This is now officially an issue that they need to address seriously.

Probably not, because a large amount of Republicans won't want to work with him, and dems sure as hell won't either. Not to mention he's simply incompetent.

Nope, there are 3 major qualifications:
- Must be a citizen (natural born only)
- Must be 35 or older
- Must be a resident of the US for 14 years or more.

Is that 14 years or more prior to running, or just at any given point?

Prior to running. That's the way I've seen it most commonly interpreted.

Re: US Presidential Race
Don't US-Presidents have to be natural born?
I remember that because in 2004 or 2008 Schwarzenegger had like the greatest approval ratings of any Republican, and I vaguely remember that he couldn't run, then. Not that he said he would, but he wasn't allowed.
Did they change that, or am I misremembering?

That will NEVER change. No way we would ever allow a foreigner to become president.

So theoretically if you accept a post as an ambassador you're turning away the chance to run for president for 14 years?McLewis wrote:Prior to running. That's the way I've seen it most commonly interpreted.

A naturalized citizen is no longer a foreigner, though, no?

Re: US Presidential Race
Trump creates drama on purpose because that's what American people feed on. USA worships celebrities and that's what he wants to be viewed as. A controversial celebrity.
Hence he is so popular. I personally don't understand why celebrities are such a big thing there. Taylor Swift changing boyfriends is somehow always all over internet like it's an important matter despite it happening every week and having no impact on anything whatsoever.
They like this kind of stuff and that's why the race for president is winning a guy who acts like an idiot on purpose instead of a reliable, legit and fitting person for the position.

That's a pretty mild restriction tbh, in our country you need to have at least a Master degree to run for presidency or parliamentary seat.

Nope, they didn't. I just re-read the link I posted and it quotes the Constitution as saying " no person except a natural born citizen . . . shall be eligible to the office of President,”. So that excludes Ahnold. The "otherwise" portion of my post is not correct so I'll remove that.

Yup, essentially. It becomes very difficult to hold both posts. Not impossible of course, but quite improbable. To the point where I think the last President to also serve as an Ambassador to another country was a founding father. Need to fact-check that though.

Well yeah it's designed to be that way, which is why people here always say" Anyone in this country could technically be President". It's not literally possible for many of us plebs of course as you need a lot of money and influence (prior to this election, I would said experience) to even get near the nomination, but these requirements make it so that just about anyone has at least a toe in the door, so to speak.

Re: US Presidential Race
Requiring something like a Master's degree would also be contrary to how American Democracy is designed, because it would allow an institution that isn't democratic (Universities) to restrict access to political posts.
So if The Man(tm) wants to quietly shut you down, they can just deny you your Master's degree. Not something the US of A would have in their system.

Hmm that seems odd. Not a very good way of getting the best candidates for those spots, although I wouldn't say ambassador is a coveted position in the US. Isn't the US embassy technically "US soil"?
Also what about military commanders that have spent x tours on Iraq/Afghanistan/wherever?
A pretty odd requirement.

Lol very true.
I think the accent plays a big role. Even as a citizen that accent always throws people off, it isnt just that though. Most people always assume I was born elsewhere, and I sound just like any other old American.

Lucky for Hillary that outside of 2008, Millenials don't vote.
Bernie Sanders revolution died when his voters didnt vote for him during spring break. They'd rather go get drunk in Mexico, and play pokemon go.
