Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
Hmm Pogba might not be interested to move now that Madrid's no more in the picture.
If his heart is set on La Liga and Madrid then United should stay far away from him as possible. Dont want another Di maria like situation. Him getting pressured to sign for us this year will be the worst case scenario. FFS dont want to happen. Willing to be content with Fellaini and Carrick.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
He won't return to England.
Real or Barca is where he'll end up at.
Farca is his dream. I hope we can keep him until 2018 as that's when we'll make massive changes again.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
This signing needs to be thought out more carefully. At Juventus Pogba has free reign to express himself. He might find himself in another France situation if Mourinho doesn't play a 433. I would honestly advice him to stay at Juventus. If he is sold for 100m and then played in a double Pivote the pressure would ruin him and he won't be able to showcase his game.
Woodward seems to think this is FM.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
So Raiola has used our interest to try and get a massive fee out of Madrid, now they have cooled interest he is looking for a salary increase for Pogba from Juve and using us as the leverage again, if he doesn't get it he will have our offer to turn Pogba's head and ask to be sold...his recent transactions with us (Ibra and Henrik) could probably scare Juve into believing it too.

Or just maybe, Perez gets him at a lower price, but paying Pogba the higher salary that he wants and that Juve can't afford. It's kind of what Perez was after all along. There are obvious gamesmanship at play here. Perez, Woodward, Raiola and Juve. This battle is not over yet!!!
But it really has to get settled by this week's end!!!
By the way, I don't believe there has been any confirmation in Spain that Flo has dropped out of this.

Yep. And thats why this deal shouldnt happen. Theres no indication that Mourinho will be willing to change the system, even if its for a 100 m player.
And I cant see Pogba being effective in a deeper role in a 4231 either. If they buy Pogba they will also have to decide between Pogba and Rooney, it is as simple as that. 100 m transfer fee, insane wages and if pog wont deliver from the get go, shit will turn bad.
Much better idea is to buy players who will actually suit the system. For 100 m, jose can get both Saul and Neves. or just buy Saul for 50 m and put fosu mensah as no.6 alongside him in a double pivot.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
I think Juventus will come out and surprise people with Pogbas new contract offer. I understand we have a salary cap but the club is growing especially revenue wise and we are almost on 0 net spend in the transfer market. I realise if we give pogba a raise a lot of other players will want a raise but I have a gut feeling we are now in a position where this is possible to give players like Pogba and Bonucci contracts probably around double what they earn.
If we don't try and compete on wages then it will have catastrophic consequences for us.
Also pogba recently signed a 10 year 40 million dollar adidas deal say we offer him 8 mil a season and then go up even move if Juventus continue to grow surely he will be satisfied

100 Mil for Pogba is nothing because of the revenue he will bring in from shirt sales.
Ronaldo MADE madrid money, that's right he brang in more revenue then his transfer fee alone from shirt sales after his move and that doesn't include all the other marketing etc as i say before anything less then 150 mil and Juve is getting ripped off not because of his ability but the marketing and shirt sales he brings. Utd has the money so don't be surprised if pogba stays, wins the cl with Juve stars and you will have to pay a lot more then 100 mil

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
the money that i'm hearing utd are willing to spend, i don't see why juve don't sell him to them. i think its an ego thing, but a hundred million pounds? or rather over a hundred million pounds, i'd sell without even thinking. why?
this is juventus, the threats from their other serie a rivals at least to me, doesn't seem strong enough that a pogba move should have a significant effect. with a 100 million pounds, you can bring in a decent midfielder and a forward and still have a deep squad to vie for the league title
ofcourse, there's the issue of ucl. as good as pogba is, and i think he's very good. he doesn't strike me as juve's be all end all ticket to european success. with a deep and well constructed team, a little bit of luck, that can fall into place. them making it in europe is not strictly determined by pogba

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
shirt sales. @marottalad, if pogba goes to utd, and some other player starts stepping up big time for juve, guess what, he too will sell shirts. i don't like getting into the shirt sales talk, because it only started getting into football conversations because of florentino. who used it as a means of justifying the money he was spending to sign stars...particularly after he signed beckham. then it became his mantra after any major spending. now people just lap that whole "it wasn't really expensive because of shirt sales" thing up
with florentino as president, real madrid would still make a ton of money whether or not we signed cristiano. if juve sign say for example, alexis sanchez, and he and the team performs, as the marquee team in italy they'll still see a ton of revenue from tv deals and all that other fun stuff regardless of pogba
i understand wanting to keep your marquee player, but a hundred million pounds? all due respect to pogba, we are not talking about kaka, cristiano, messi, zlatan from like 8 years ago. that will be a massive steal, the only concern will be whether juve will spend the money wisely...still not sure what exactly utd did with all that cristiano money we gave them, maybe it went to players' wages

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
Yes , we're in a good position regardless of what happens.
As for spending money wisely, people only have to look at Juve's work in the last 4-5 yrs.
That said, it's too early to let him go now.
