Guys, Isco has accepted the 6 year, 6M renewal!

Ac'ccording to Marca it's only official when the club announces it

Are we going to pretend that Theo Hernandez, Marcos Llorente and Vallejo aren't in the mix for next season just because they aren't officially announced, but regularly talked about by the club and various Media?

Zidane said yesterday in press conference about Isco that he was definitely staying.

But also remember that wasn't it Marca who reported Nacho to Roma was a done deal. I don't see anything wrong with just waiting for an official announcement to be 100% isco disco is staying

Well Celta postponed game is now scheduled so just 5 games remain. We need 7 points out last 3 liga games and a win in Cardiff over Juve to wrap up the two major trophies. all in all a very successful season.

RE next season, we can preety well assume the following:

1. deGea coming in for record GK fee and Navas out.

2. Theo Hernandez coming in, us breaking friendly pact with Atleti paying his exit price. Coentrao being bought out.

3. marianno being loaned out.

4. James to leave, likely somewhere in EPL.

5. Morata to Chelsea.

6. Marcos Llorente returns home.

7. MBappe signed for record fee for an 18 year old.

THe unknowns are

A. Will they renew Pepe. A week ago they had his agent in Madrid, but no word since! They say Vallejo is returning irregardless of Pepe situation, i.e. Sounds like they are considering going with 9 defenders.

B? Will they get rid of Benz, Bale or both? And is there another forward to be brought in?

We need Kovacic, he's the Kroos and Modric backup, Llorente is going to contend with Casemiro. But if Kova doesn't finally convincingly show he can truly be a great CM next year (still hasn't aside from glimpses imo) then we might start looking elsewhere for new options, who knows.

So we have more or less signed Theo Hernandez before the window has even opened. Nice doing business so early for once. I have a feeling Perez will go after DDG which is obviously going to drag on all summer. If Isco signs the extension we will be set in midfield and defence next season. The attack is a whole other matter though. Alot of chess pieces that need to be moved.

Défense is still not clear with pepe's situation. If we don't extend his contract we need to sign someone imo

It all depends on what trophies we win this season if any. There is likely to be two scenarios:

Win the double or just one of the 2 trophies:

-This gives us alot of leeway in regards to squad management. There can be a nice transition without anybody complaining. Because if we win the CL, we won't be expected to win it 3 times in a row. And if we win the league it'll have ticked it off for another 6 seasons

Fail to win any of the trophies and we likely fall back on the tried and trusted.

As much as I love Pepe, it's probably time to move on. There won't be a defender who comes close to his level but we are RM we don't care about defence. Varane will take over the starting position, Nacho will be the back up for R/LCB while Vallejo takes over as the 4th choice CB. On paper it's not very convincing but that's essentially what we've done for the duration of this season minus the 4th choice CB so it's not like we haven't tried it before

I don't see why you have to be lazy with recruiting even when you win.

I don't think Vallejo is ready yet maybe he will surprise us but that's where I stand

Tbh as a 4th choice CB he won't be playing much anyways. I say test him out for a year, let him get some experience in the Copa and see how well he does. Then take it from there. What's the worst that could happen?

Besides we cant make too many changes after winning one or more trophies. What you need is good recruiting. Someone like Theo is smart recruitment, buying another CB atm is not imo. Vallejo or anyone else will play negligible minutes so might as well trust him. We will already be adding too many players as it is. Can't have another one of those seasons where we sell and buy too many players. These past 2 seasons were great and this summer we are addressing the 2 positions we are thin in. DDG and another CB besides Vallejo are just luxury buys. Prefer spending the money on a winger and making Ronaldo the FT CF

If we make too many changes we may risk losing this progression we are under right now and be forced to start over. We have just transitioned away from Pepe next will have to be Benz, then perhaps Modric/Ronaldo etc. The recruitment so far is on point. Vallejo will be with us to learn from Ramos for when we start moving away from him too. We have a few ageing players in our squad that need careful management

Worst case scenario is ramos and Varane injured and you have Nacho and a novice in défense euh no thanks

And that's the big problem. Varane and Ramos have both been out quite a bit this season. Losing Pepe and adding Vallejo would be a huge drop in quality imo.

Well we share the same opinion but it's not like we have been linked to some glorious names out there. The only I have seen is Otamendi because he Is repped by Mendes and he knows Pepe is not renewing

That's a scary line up. Lots of pace, lots of creativity and just enough width.

Again, you're not going to convince any quality CB you guys are talking about to come to Madrid as a 3rd or 4th choice CB. Only Nacho was happy with that.

You really think you can sell Boateng or Otamendi to be a bench warmer? Let's be real.

Nacho is a cantera and has been far better than expected tbh... that's the only reason we have that 4th CB quality right now. Never had that before and, unless another cantera turns out like Nacho, we won't have it in the future either.

I think yes you can Boateng I don't know but Otamendi? Glik? yes you can (glik is a chantera by the way lol)

Glik is not leaving Monaco unless someone pays crazy money for him.  So forget it.  Boateng isn't going to the bench... so you can forget that too.

This is all wishful thinking.

ANd I'm talking about young and basically unproven cantera players (or playing with 2nd rate teams) that are actually taking a step up by accepting the bench at Madrid.

Of course it's wishful thinking, we can only sign defenders of second rare teams that are actually good players aka Manolas, Glik, Koulibaly, howedes etc... not withstanding the price, obviously you need a good deal and in this market experienced CBs unless you unearth a gem cost 20-40 mil.

Or we sign a young CB but that's telling vallejo he is not there yet. And you take your bet Gimenez,Yeray etc and you will pay 20 mil for some or 60 mil for others like gimenez.

Otamendi is a back up at best. Gimenez while good enough to start still does not have too potential and often make stupid mistakes. I know it is easier said than done but we need some one in the mold of Varane if we are to scout for centre backs.
