I don't see how anyone can say that, assuming of course you have actually played enough to see how combat evolves after the opening few hours.
The combat is amazing, albeit it's very simple early on but the depth it offers once it opens up is only matched by very few games.

There's a skill called Permafrost, focus on that very early on and also don't neglect Artreus(the kid) skill tree as he's absolutely vital to helping you in combat.

Just facing the first boss called Daudi Kommander. Can't get more than 2 hits in without dying lmao
I heard the Give me a Challenge difficulty was very hard, i'm playing on the Balanced difficulty and tbh i'm finding it challenging and some of the enemies one hit me if they are a high enough level.

died twice to some random lad defending a chest but not against a boss ffs
so long as later abilities dont trivialize things i can see it being a challenge on normal difficulty

So far it has been for me, i've died quite a lot. The abilities i have has helped and opened up the combat to levels i wasn't expecting but the enemies have scaled quite well with it.
Especially on side content, i found a level 5 enemy when i was level 2 and it was one hitting me ffs. Never been so defensive in my life.

I'm 5-6 hours into the game and there are many positives to this game, the graphics, animations, story (so far), side quests. But I maintain the combat could have been better. The locking system is clumsy at times and the mini-bosses are weak comparatively and mostly reskinned. The same mechanics on rinse-repeat. I'm already bored of them.
Re: God of War
Yeah I don't disagree with the troll like enemies, but that's more a criticism of enemy variety than the combat not being varied or in your words polished enough.
It controls great, the way it flows from parries, stuns, quick and heavy combos is honestly amazing
That's without mentioning the abilities you unlock which open up the combat even further, I personally love it.
I genuinely can't remember a Western made game having this level of depth tbh, it's usually reserved for games made by Japanese studios.

Re: God of War
Had some shit happen with my US PSN account so I finally got impatient and just had to shell out the 70 euros for the digital deluxe version of god of war (there is no regular version in EU). Now I have some digital artbook, theme, and some bs like that I will probably only open once .

Re: God of War
I'm lvl 2 and I guess you can't really fight things above your level by much, I pretty much got wrecked by a few level 4 mobs, although spartan rage did some decent damage so I guess it's not impossible, just been exploring
only time I really struggle is when you get mobbed with mixed enemy types and overwhelmed, honestly the most annoying things so far as the stuff that poison you or throw flames

That's not true at all, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is ignoring Atreus and not focusing on his skill tree.
It will make your life so much easier.
