Which teams will go through? (Choose 2, please)
Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
You say "great" but three of Kane's five goals were scored coming off the bench. It's only recently, when Rooney was injured, that Kane started getting starts so we're only now starting to see how he might fit with certain players.
For me, he's not really fitting in for two reasons. One is that England create a lot through their fullbacks and balls into the box but Kane isn't looking to get on the end of the type of service. The other is that he's hardly involving himself in the build-up or creating angles, either. So he's not fulfilling any function in the team.
It could well be that if/when we face the big teams he'll shine more because he'll have more space. But against two teams sitting deep he's been a passenger.

I've got a feeling Roy is going to be conservative and only drop one of Sterling or Kane.

I dont agree with Sturridge starting. At least not during the earlier stages of the tournament. Save him for matches against the bigger teams. I swear , I feel like he is 1 hard tackle away from being injured for the rest of the month.

So the team is expected to be:
I am mostly okay with this. We should have enough to beat Slovakia and can always look to the bench if/when things don't as planned. We'll probably improve defensively if anything
The concern is, of course, making six changes is pretty drastic especially as we haven't even qualified yet (although four points should be enough to get us through as a third placed team).
So the team is expected to be:
Hart
Clyne - Smalling - Cahill - Bertrand
Henderson - Dier - Wilshere
Sturridge - Vardy - Lallana

Kind of hoping that Sturridge and Vardy perform well so it forces Hodgson's hand. Obviously Rooney will come back in and Alli probably will too but pace and movement in front of Rooney and Alli is a step in the right direction.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
One of Sturridge or Vardy will keep his place regardless because Sterling has been so poor.
I can see a scenario where one of them doesn't score, but Kane comes off the bench and scores. In which case he'll get his place back in the team.
Walker, Rose, Rooney and Alli will definitely return for the knockout game (assuming we get that far).

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
respect Roy. Looking to go all the way.
Its sensible.. rest the core and give Wilshere, Sturridge, Vardy and even Bertrand a chance to give Roy something to think about in the knockouts.
Don't want to see Lallana play more than 60 mins.

Lallana hasn't been bad tbh. His only problem is finishing.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
wtf
Maybe no Kane but Walker has been great, Rose has been decent. Nothing wrong with Dele Alli.
Scapegoating Tottenham absolute madness from Hodgson. Hope they lose

CB, that's a stupid comment. (But pls don't ban me for it). It's the third match, it's sensible to rotate a bit when your squad is so evenly matched. Walker's been good, he should play the next game. Alli has been meh, someone else deserves a chance. Rose and Bertrand are pretty much the same player anyway. Kane hasn't scored while Vardy has. Making these changes is no madness at all, makes perfect sense.

If anything leaving out Walker, Rose and Alli shows how highly Roy rates them. They're all going to come back into the side afterwards.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
If that's your viewpoint then alright.
Personally I would put in my best lineup tonight to try and win because a third place finish means you're facing Spain or Croatia. A runner up finish isn't all that bad, but going for the win on the other hand has you up against some shite third placed teams.
But if the England contingent is alright with that, go Roy Hodgson
That's not to say England can't or won't win anyway, but it's certainly more of a risk when you're not playing your best squad and making that many changes.

He probably thinks this team is more than good enough to win anyway, sure it's risk but not a massive one IMO.
Hell in some ways this team is better.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
For me it's only a risk because it's so many changes in one go. It's not a risk in terms of quality on the field; the only real area we lose something is Henderson in for Alli/Rooney because he's not as good a passer nor is he a creative player.
If, say, Milner and Barkley were playing and Stones was somehow playing right back I'd have a lot more doubts about this. But Sturridge in for Sterling, Vardy in for Kane and Wilshere in for Alli/Rooney aren't bad swaps at all.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
from bbc
Who will England and Wales play in the last 16 when/if they qualify? The truth is, well, we're not actually sure.
Here's what we do know:
The Group B winners - so hopefully either England or Wales - will play a third-place team from either Group A (Albania), Group D (unconfirmed, but one from Czech Republic, Croatia or Turkey) or Group C (unconfirmed, but one from Germany, Poland or Northern Ireland).
That depends on the combination of the four groups which provide the third-placed sides.
The Group B runners-up will play the Group F runners-up - either Hungary, Iceland, Portugal or Austria.
Third place in Group B? They are likely to play the Group C winners (Germany?) with an outside chance of meeting the Group D winners (Spain?). If they have done enough to qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group B
Maybe
But seriously there's aspects which is better and worse.
Fullbacks are probably worse going forward but better defensively, Henderson and Wilshere as a pairing is worse than Alli and Rooney imo mainly because of the big drop off to Henderson lol.
Forwards are probably better though.
