Re: Next Manager thread
https://t.co/gtcTTDaOXv This weeks column. Sacking Unai Emery is a straightforward decision at this point. What comes next is more complicated though. Like Liverpool and Spurs before them, Arsenal might have to wait for their Mr. Right.

Re: Next Manager thread
The most impressive thing he's done at Rangers is instil a battling mentality and get them playing more like the big club they are. He's taken a bullish approach there and it's worked out. His results in Europe are okay, too. In terms of experience, he's streets ahead of Arteta, for sure.
But even still, it's Scotland. It's nothing compared to the PL. I would have reservations based on that alone.

I would take a risk with Arteta, we need a ballsy risk than a safe mediocre bet

Re: Next Manager thread
Then there's this gem, from his article:
There is acknowledgement at Arsenal that Leicester are an extremely strong side, especially at home, and the top brass think Emery’s team showed clear signs of improved performance. It encouraged their view that Arsenal are on the right path and possess players and staff of the quality and capacity required to reach their targets. They are adamant their project is sound, well planned and will bring success, provided the external atmosphere allows it to do so. They hope the international break comes at a good time for the squad — allowing them a welcome change of scenery — but accept the absence of domestic matches will increase the “noise” around Emery and they are determined not to let it influence their thoughts or actions.
Either this is an elaborate misdirect or everyone there is on one.
I know clubs present a unified front before sacking their managers, but between the various articles saying they back Emery, to blaming VAR and now the atmosphere, it genuinely feels like they believe their own BS.

Re: Next Manager thread
They must feel pretty proud of themselves after that statement.
Sanllehi, Edu, Vinai and whoever else is behind this can fuck right off and take Emery with them.

Aubameyang has irritated a number of people at #AFC by developing a relation with AFTV. Team-mates and staff have been left unimpressed by him ‘liking’ certain posts about Emery and Xhaka. He has been asked to stop engaging with one of the contributors: “Troopz” [@TheAthleticUK]

Re: Next Manager thread
I have my grievances with them but the club singling them out as a problem is ridiculous. According to Ornstein's source, they're blamed for causing negativity but them getting close to one the players and fostering a good relationship is also bad. As if this single media group is the cause of everything.
Then there's this:
#AFC say that Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham met with staff today in a pre-planned meeting. This is what they said: pic.twitter.com/dlYktHVsOg

...which reads a lot like damage control after the initial reports claiming they considered fan discontent as just "noise".
It's quite amazing how they've managed to alienate the supporters in just a couple of days. All that goodwill they generated over the summer is evaporating fast.
My only hope at this point is that they've looked at the next six games and have decided that if results are still poor, despite the lower quality of opposition, they'll change the manager.
The next six games are: Southampton (H), Frankfurt (H), Norwich (A), Brighton (H), Standard Liege (A), West Ham (A). After that, the fixtures get tough. You'd like to think the club would have no other choice to sack Emery if he drops a bunch of points here... and there's plenty of evidence suggesting he's capable of doing just that.

wouldn't those fixtures be ideal for new head coach to start his job than the death run that follows in Dec/early Jan?

Re: Next Manager thread
I think the board are just trying to stick by the decision they made and not give up on Emery that easily for publicity's sake.

Re: Next Manager thread
Arteta is a shot in the dark no managerial experience at top level whatsoever has only worked under Pep who has always managed teams well set for success with little effort needed to succeed.

On one hand, the idea of the club trying to censor his personal behaviour and good relationship with a large segment of our fans does sound a bit ridiculous. On the other hand, Auba and Laca’s open liking of posts that criticize Emery and Xhaka has been extremely unprofessional this year.
The ideal solution would have been to have a strong, respected captain who dealt with these situations quietly rather than our corporate management scolding the players. This would have avoided the Xhaka situation too. Our lack of leaders is really showing right now.

Jay29 wrote:I agree, it's dumb. But I'm half convinced this is the reason they're coming out in support of Emery. The teams puts six wins together, their confidence goes up, the fans ease up because the team is winning, and its gives them that little bit longer to get a replacement sorted out.
This pretty much, I strongly believe we can't actually find any good replacement atm, and don't say Freddie and Arteta. The next one has be to a sure shot, no more potential, no more ex player.
