Re: Barclay's Premier League '15-'16 discussion V10
Disagree, do you see anyone overcoming that 6 point gap with City? It's very hard to picture United, Liverpool, West Ham or Southampton winning 3 games more than them. I'd say City has a higher chance of winning the league than of missing out on the top 4.Peccadillo wrote:El Gunner wrote:Top 4 is set lads

Would be great banter if Pep is forced to play Europa League next season.
Out of all the coaches that were on the CL semi finals on 2013, one will be retired and three will be in EL

What you or I think is not relevant. The fact remains that it isn't the time to write anyone off with a 6 pt gap and so long to go.
If united beat us next match then all of a sudden it isn't so hard to imagine with a 3 pt gap and a bit of confidence.

Okay, well, under that logic Bayern have not yet won the bundesliga, in spite of their 8 point gap in February, so we should not write off Dortmund!

bingo. It would indeed be illogical to write off Dortmund at this stage in the competition. A 30% chance, say, is still a significant chance.
I would call it more likely that United will finish top 4 than Dortmund win Bunda though.

and yet the betting odds for Bayern winning are 1:1.01 whereas for dortmund they are 1:14... it is a foregone conclusion in most people's mind that Bayern will winHapless_Hans wrote:BarrileteCosmico wrote:Okay, well, under that logic Bayern have not yet won the bundesliga, in spite of their 8 point gap in February, so we should not write off Dortmund!

paddypower paying 20.. worth a punt tbh.
Also if we are going to refer to bookies Man Utd only paying ≤ 1:4 for top four finish - they clearly haven't written them off.

Yes, with Pep being the manager and all.
Besides, the two are hardly comparable situations! Different leagues, title vs top 4, etc etc

Didn't he say before that he would last "like 10 seconds lol"?
Looks like he didn't even reach his original lofty goals

3 seconds?
GTFO with that nonsense. Not even an experienced person would finish anywhere near that quick.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '15-'16 discussion V10
The Premier League are thinking about offering cash incentives for teams to progress further in the Europa League:

Seems very desperate.

I think simply making allowances for them in the schedule (if you have a Thursday El match don't schedule them for next Saturday) will take them a long way, whuch to be fair they already seem to be doing this season.
