Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Happy about Xhaka if true. That sorts our central options out for next season when we let go of Flamini and Arteta.
There are plenty of solid options for RW out there imo.. all significantly better than Theo and the Ox. Griezman would be unnecessarily costly..
Shaqiri.. Mahrez.. Mikhitaryan.. Yarmolenko..

Last two seasons he has only played 7 games at AM, the rest have come on the wing. I know that doesn't make him a winger, but he can certainly play there.
I can't see Dortmund letting him go, though.

He's certainly more of a winger than Ramsey - and Theo

well, it is your bad, because although it doesn't suggest its his best position it does suggest its perfectly reasonable to suggest him as a RW option. fml.

To use your own example then, like Walcott? And Ramsey also listed as a potential RW. And Ozil.
And so on and such forth. On the internet. Must. Be. True.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Mkhitaryan is not a right winger. He can play there, but I wouldn't buy him to play him there.
That's like taking Eriksen and saying we should buy him for the RW (or LW). Spurs do legitimately play him on the left sometimes and have done many times, but he's never quite as good on the left and Spurs have since given him a roaming role, with him popping up in the middle more often than not. Since Poch made this change, Eriksen immediately went from having a meh season to being one of Spurs best players again.
Yeah, he can play there, but it's a bit of a waste to buy Mkhitaryan and play him on the right. It depends though, if you play Bellerin like Spurs play Danny Rose, and have a player like Alli that is willing to vacate his space in the middle to play "off" the CF a little bit more, and you have a fairly fluid front three, then it might not be a bad idea as he may have space to work in just like Eriksen does.

Logged in just to say this:
Wow. Now we're looking to Spurs for best practices. Spurs. Let that sink in for a moment. Oh wait, they're STILL above us in the table, and playing much better football and much more consistently.
Now, I wonder who is to blame for that.
(Don't take that personally CSpurs)

He played on the right side of the attack a lot this year. Probably most of his games by far. And he's played there better than Walcott or Ramsey have ever played in their lives.
Whether you want to call it playing as a winger is another matter. But then Wenger likes to use attacking midfielders at least on one side of the attack. Mkhi playing to the right of Özil would be a perfect use of him.
Peccadillo wins this one.
RedOranje is wrong.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Is there really an argument going on here about anyone at Arsenal being better at RM than Mkhitaryan? lol
We've seen this season that it's a huge problem area. Theo, Ox, Joel and Ramsey, none have been able to lock it down.
Mkhitaryan is playing the best football of his career on the right with Dortmund. Playing a front four of
--------------Welbeck
Sanchez-----Ozil------Mkhitaryan
would guarantee free flowing movement between them ensuring that none are nailed down to one position. Every one of those players thrives in systems like that. Just a thought. RM at Arsenal does not mean a player who hugs the touchline and lumps crosses in to Giroud. So we'd be signing a versatile player capable of slotting in anywhere behind the striker. Still don't see this transfer happening. Just murmurs from the Guardian and DiMarzio which could just lead to a contract extension and it's done.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
From the Guardian article on Mkhitaryan interest:
I'm being facetious of course, but I love the idea of Wenger and his scouts monitoring YouTube highlights comps. "Steve, zis player here has good goals, skills, and assists. Maybe he is good for Arsenal. How much does Transfermarkt say he costs?"
They have sent scouts to watch the Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder and have further monitored his progress via video clips.

With all due respect, Mole, you're not fit to comment on Mkhitaryan, seeing how you kept calling him a useless scrub who's stealing a living etc pp just because he had one very unfortunate season when all of BVB had a very unfortunate season.
You haven't apologized and admitted your wrong judgement yet.
And again, Wenger always plays a midfielder on one of the wings.
Just as Tuchel plays Mkhitaryan on the right wing, mostly in a 4-3-3 with Weigl-Gündogan-Castro/Kagawa as the midfield three.
So insisting that a player 'isn't a winger' is completely moot, if the player plays in that part of the pitch to great success.
Especially since this is one of the most overused sentences.
Noone is a winger these days lol.
"Di Maria isn't a winger" etc pp.

All of that is meaningless guff which doesn't negate my point imo
Also one bad season He was crap in both seasons before Tuchel which says Tuchel is some sort of miracle worker imo

It's not happening anyway.
Mkhi is in renewal talks with BVB right now since his contract's running out in '17.
His agent is Raiola so it's not at all surprising you would hear public stories about what clubs are after him hard.
BVB want to keep him very forcefully, they'll offer him a contract at the very upper end of what's doable for them, and I'd be VERY suprised if Mkhi would decide to not extend, now that he's blossoming.

Wenger is one step ahead of you, he knew Lord bendtner would be released and will be picked in the summer by Arsenal for free.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Are the anti-mkhitaryan posters on this thread high this week? It doesn't matter what his main position is, who gives a fck? The point is, he is better than anyone else we would have in that position. Period. Is it so hard to understand why we want him? He has proven this season to be much better at rw than any of ramsey-ox-walcott etc.

We'll just double whatever bvb offer him, then we'll see his resolve. This isnt Reus, he has no affiliation to bvb and is 27 going into the latter stages of his career. A large some of money would most likely turn his head.

BVB will reportedly offer him close to 10m per year, that's ~ 150k £ per week.
I REALLY don't see you offering double that.
No doubt PL clubs could in theory heavily outbid BVB on wages, but I don't see you doing it for Mkhitaryan.
