Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
Yeah he's an attractive option. Sure, he's absolute batshit crazy, but he'll get these players battle-ready and light a fire under their asses, something Rudi just can't seem to do right now. Tactically, I'm a little worried about his penchant for 3-man defenses. I don't think we have the players for that.
Lippi has done next to nothing since leaving Guangzhou Evegrande last year. Not sure that's really a bad thing as he's probably fresh (considering his age I suppose), but I was never a fan of him tactically or as a man manager. He represents the old school way of doing things and I don't think that gells with this relatively young Roma team. Despite him winning everything there is to win in the game, I just don't think he's a good fit for this team, but could get behind him for the remainder of the season as at the very least, he'd bring some stability.

That's one thing with Bielsa he'll keep the players on their toes. In the CL he's at least met with Madrid a few times (his time at Bilbao), maybe a little beneficial for the encounter in coming months.
Lippi to me will be like having another LVG He's still living mainly on his Juventus success.

I don't know even if Lippi would be a good choice for the Romanista environment because of his huge Juventinità

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
I am perplexed at some of the comments about Lippi. The 2010 WC team was an anomaly. Lippi made a fundamental error, he used the players from 2006 who were no longer able to sustain Lippi's style of play.
Lippi's approach is very modern. His teams are required to press constantly especially after losing the ball. When the ball is lost in the opposing teams half, the goal is to regain it in the opposing team's half. While he will often change to a defensive shell when his team is in the lead, he changes back to hard pressing attacking when the opposing team is convinced that the Lippi team is satisfied with the lead and they are often caught with a high line. Lippi will change formation and tactics several times in game.
He was doing the instant ball recovery thing with Juventus before Barcelona adopted that tactic.
It is true that you need particularly fit players and attackers that will defend for Lippi's system to work and I am not sure that Roma is equipped personnel-wise for that type of play.

Rumblings that Spaletti appears to be ready to take over immediately on the 22nd. Rudi appears to be out regardless of the result against Genoa.

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
Rudi doesn't change... and it has been his downfall. Stubborn to a fault. Like Luis Enrique who also failed at lesser clubs, he needs elite talent to make his system effective since he can impose his will with top talent. But when you're dealing with teams who have talent deficiencies, the stubbornness gets exposed.
He's a good coach. I hope he lucks out and gets a job at a good club. Wouldn't mind him at Marseille tbh, although i think he ends up at Lyon.

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
Well I don't think most coaches change their philosophy. Not something I expected Rudi to do. I think what I and many fans expected of him was to react, adapt and evolve when the going got tough. To find solutions for the problems with his squad. This shouldn't require him to change his philosophy, but this means he needs to be able to think critically and out of the box. His lack of a plan B made sure that didn't happen.
Current news I'm reading now says former defender Christian Panucci might be brought in to act as caretaker boss until we can get Antonio Conte. Typical Roman media. Going in 42029347 directions at once.

His Inter ties clearly at play there. Most Romanisti would never accept him anyway because of his attitude and those Inter ties, same way they'd never accept Conte, Lippi or Capello because of their Juve ties.
Capello himself has ruled out a return, which is welcome news.

So we are sticking with Rudi for now...you can't get anymore indecisive than that. Either support him or tell him to kick rocks ffs.
Guess the plan is to keep him and hold out for a big name in the summer....y'know, because Roma always attract the biggest names in coaching.....
Awful.

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
I have absolutely no preference on a replacement at this point. I just want the rot to stop.
I just hope Pallotta's anger is real this time. We were here before and they ended up backing Rudi again.
Reports say we'll know tomorrow what will happen so I'm not gonna say anything else about it until then.
I just hope this is well and truly the final straw for Pallotta. Anyone of those 4 can come in and steady the ship....taking us forward permanently is an entire different matter.

Wouldn't mind him for following reasons:
- His tactics will be fresh
- He'll kick ass in the locker room
- He's temporary.

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
From Football Italia and Roma Press:
I think this is appropriate now:
SportMediaset reports that Pallotta has decided to relieve Garcia of his duties, and will inform directors Walter Sabatini and Frederic Massara of his decision in a conference call this afternoon.
However, the move will not be officially announced today, with CEO Italo Zanzi and Coach Garcia in Zurich for the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
The American President is believed to have rejected the idea of a caretaker Coach, so Luciano Spalletti is in pole position to take over the Olimpico bench.

1. Why are Roma CEO and coach at the Ballon D'or gala?
2. Obama dictating whether there's a interim coach at Roma or not

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
Spalletti's the only one the fans want at this point because he's the only coach to win us actual silverware since the 2001 scudetto. Plus he knows how to use players like Florenzi, Totti and Nainggolan effectively. I'm just not sure how he'd use Pjanic though, which is worrying.

Re: Rudi Garcia Sack Watch
I don't think Spalletti is that bad of an appointment as some might think, when he was at Roma he made the best out of a very bad team, i mean, they had players like Antunes, Cicinho, Cassetti, Brighi, Tavano, Okaka, Sartor, Kharja, etc and still went toe to toe with Madrid, Lyon and Chelsea. All while playing some great football.
However, I don't think he would be able to turn the season around
