Would you stop working if the state gave you 650€/month forever?
In Catalonia and Spain, due to the surge in unemployment and poverty, some social lobbies are pushing for the instatement of a basic income to all of those who don't have a job or their income doesn't reach this minimum. This income is asked to be around 650€, which in Catalonia would buy you a very modest life with no luxuries, but enough to live on your own if you don't live in the big city.
If you earned more than that, you wouldn't receive this basic income.
A non skilled job in Spain, would get you around 1.000€. Would you stop working and enjoy your free time for this 650€/month, or would you keep working to get this 1.000€ (if you were an unskilled employee)?

I'll work for more obviously.
The 650 doesn't go to pensioners I assume

At my current income level I definitely wouldn't stop working for 650/mo. If my choices were 650/mo for nothing or 1000/mo for low-skill labor I'm not sure, depends on what kind of jobs were available for that 1000/mo and what the cost of living is where I'm at

Though in theory it sounds very much robinhoody my question is even if money with people increases what about the gross domestic product? Is it going to increase? No. Then what happens is peopl have so much money but less goods are produced leading to hyper inflation. This type of condition not healthy for entrepreneurs so they shut down their enterprises or contract it leading to more unemployment. So that's not some good gesture by Spanish its basically economical travesty.

I don't think idleness leads anyone to happiness in the long term, and I've experienced that in the past and personally I found it was a horrible rut to get into. So I'd either continue with the job, or use the free time to work on another ambition.

Hmm let's see, at the moment one Euro is worth 3,870 Iranian Toman, if you convert that 650€ to our currency you have 2,515,500 Toman.
This is the kind of salary you'd get from a entry level job like working for a bank, i'd say it's more than enough for a family with one children but not enough for a large family.

I definitely wouldn't stop working, but as a freelancer I would feel much safer if there was a definite and secure baseline I'd get.

In Germany this is already in place more or less. Effectively even more than € 650. If you have no job the welfare system pays the rent for a flat for you, with all the costs for heating etc. included (which is at least € 350 for a small 1 person flat, if not more, depending on the city you live in, but certainly not any less) and you get € 400 cash. Obviously you get free medical treatment etc. as well. Easily well over € 650 that you receive and without time limitation.

lol no, 2m is a pretty ordinary wage here, a simple construction worker has a minimum wage of 750,000tm per month and can earn as much as 1m. frankly 2m toman is not much of a money when you consider the inflation.

lol obviously I was just joking around.
Obviously the number 1,000,000 = a million so you get where the joke is coming from no?
But of course I could see that Iranian money is to weak.

You shouldn't think like that. Yes, money is vital for your survival, but it shouldn't be the reason why you go to work. If you do something out of necessity, I guarantee you, you won't excel at it.
The basic income law has one massive upside though. It keeps those who are solely interested in money at home, leaving the vacant jobs for those who are really passionate about it and want to make a difference.
I wish this law was instated in Tunisia, 99% of the population would stop working, and would let people with ideas and passion take over. I'm so tired of these people, being incompetent, doing nothing and still holding the key jobs in this country.
So to answer you question: if you gave me two possibilities - get 1000€ a month and stay home or get 650€ and work, I'd choose the latter without even blinking.

650€ a month would barely pay rent in Denmark. We get like 1.7k for not working.

I know a lot of Americans who get paid for school You just need to set up a financial aid profile when applying for universities.

what planet are you living on
universities here are RIDICULOUSLY expensive
i have to shell out 5-10k a semester pretty soon and thats for an instate public university (UTD)
getting paid to go to a school like SMU for example.. not happening
and the only way FASFA will give you money is if you are
1.non dependant
2. low income
3. black, hispanic, mixed or native american
for the most part you'll get like.. nothing even with those steps followed^ honestly thinking about stripping at this point its that bad
