Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
Solid never trained to use CQC ever since he found out about BB. He didn't have the practise for it unlike BB and Ocelot who used it for over 40 years. Solid used CQB instead taught by Miller. MGS4 was the first time Snake even used CQC.
Ocelot was better than both BB and Solid for CQC IMO

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
False. Big Boss personally trained Solid CQC. Solid uses CQC in MG (Outer Heaven) and MG 2 (Zanzibar Land). He had great practice for it. After that he uses CQB. There is no way Ocelot was better than Big Boss. Big Boss was the god of CQC, he surpassed The Boss when he beat her on MGS 3. Miller says on MG2 to Solid to not even think about engaging Big Boss in hand to hand combat because he's the GOAT in it. Besides I'm pretty sure it's "Liquid" you mean. Ocelot was always a revolver guy, when Liquid's personality took over him, I'm pretty sure abilities transferred too.

He stopped using it for over 10 years after he found out BB betrayed him. BB trained and improved his skills for 40 years. Solid would have surpassed his CQC skills if he trained in it that much. Even in MGS4 his natural reflexes were amazing and that was after not using it for such a long time
Ocelot was never given the training personally like BB was by The Boss (wasnt mentioned anyways). He watched BB and learnt it himself. And I mean Ocelot and not liquid. IIRC, Ocelot went toe to toe with Big Boss in snake eater. Liquid Ocelot was Ocelot himself, he just used psychotherapy to convince himself that liquid possessed his body. By the end, the submarine scene was Ocelot himself in complete control iirc. Abilities don't transfer over. Liquid's style was A LOT different than what we saw from Ocelot in MGS4 and MGS3
But honestly, CQC was first mentioned in MGS3. In MG 1 and 2 Solid defeated everything in his way with 2-3 punches. What he had then was superior to CQC itself.
But Kojima had to retcon after MGS3 when he decided it made an interesting story

Can see why MGS5 won the best soundtrack award lol. Kojima spends 60% of the budget on sound for a reason ffs

How do you know Solid would have surpassed BB? 90 year old BB owned him and gave him a CQC hug two minutes after waking up from a coma. BB defeated The Boss, the freakin Boss in CQC. He became the GOAT in CQC. Can't use Solid not using to for 10 years as an excuse.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
Because Solid is the best solider when it comes to adaptation. IMO he would have been as good as BB if not better if he kept training and evolving. CQC Big Boss used was a more developed version than what The Boss taught him. Solid already has an amazing fighting style. Quite possible he would have evolved the CQC taught by BB.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
That's just an "if" When it comes to what really happened after eliminating all the ifs, Big Boss was the GOAT of CQC. Which is why Snake had to kill a 70 year old BB with RPGs and flamethrowers. And no BB's CQC is not a more developed version than The Boss at all. The Boss and Big Boss created CQC together. They both knew each other's style just as well and the styles were the same.
Who was the better solider between Solid and BB is up for debate though. Solid was morally superior which gives him the edge. Skills wise it's impossible to compare. Their accomplishments are the same but they never faced each other in their primes so we'll never know.
I think the dark side and leadership skills of Big Boss were inherited by Liquid while the loyalty, determination and good side were inherited by Solid.

Solid Snake is Snake Eater Big Boss. The loyal soldier.
Liquid Snake is Outer Heaven Big Boss. Vengeful nuke-the-world kind.
Solidus Snake is the wise old man Zanzibar Land Big Boss.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
Wonder if they would actually ever fight in their prime. Both of them were played like a damn fiddle majority of their lives. Even Liquid and The Boss.
Big Boss was never evil and Solid was never a killer but both were made to do what they didn't want to.
But we'll discuss that later when you play mgs5

Best interpretation I've heard
Same as Big Boss Vs The Boss fight being the first chronologically while Solid Vs Ocelot, their sons, being the final fight.

Are we talking about RO or LO? Because if its RO, BB would shit on him

Like I said before, LO was RO all along. He used psychotherapy to fool himself into believing he was Liquid in order to fool Patriots in return. Abilities do not transfer regardless

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
I say that because BB already bested RO, LO is different because he displayed characteristics different to RO. LS said once that he's better than SS when it comes to CQC, however much 'better' is is up to interpretation.

Maybe we haven't seen it, but iirc in MGS1 he did say that he's better than Solid at CQC (b4 you face him), trying to find the clip on youtube

Well he is an arrogant pos and thinks he is better than Solid at everything. Despite having the dominant genes, he is still weaker than Solid in everything
