How RG? A film is at max 3 hours long, you can't represent anywhere close what you want to in that time.
The cutscenes in the game >>>> film. It's the same reason why TV Series are better than films tbh, you got longer to develop the story and the characters. There's nothing you can get from a film which you don't already get from the game.
In general games searching for mainstream acceptance with films sicken me, they don't need to go hollywood to be socially accepted lol.

Escape from New York. I haven't seen it yet, or I don't remember it anymore atleast. Should be a really good action film. Prime Kurt Russell is great.
Also gonna be a remake of it starring The Rock.

That's why I said couple of movies and not just one. It will take 4 at least which will never happen.
I don't really care about the mainstream acceptance tbh. Maybe other fans do for the game. But MGS series has the respect of the gaming industry which is the most important thing for me.
I just want a film series since it will be something to look out for as there will never be another MGS game
Agreed on the cutscene bit though.
Was just looking at some cutscenes from MGS2. Insane graphics for 2001 game.

That's not the problem at all. It's just that people haven't figured out to tell their own story with the concept and characters of the game. They try to straight up tell the same story instead of using, character, setting etc and create their own story.
Warcraft made adjustments to the source material, and Assassin's Creed will be the first to do a straight up new story with the concept of a video game. Which is gonna be the first amazing video game adaptation imo. Think Warcraft will be good, but I'm too much of a fanboy to judge it. I'll love it no matter what.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
My issue is why do you need to? i'd understand it if it was for a game which sucked story wise and needed a film adaption to flesh it out.
But that isn't the case here, i can accept RG wants more MGS in any way he can get it though that's understandable but in general i dislike adaptations into films and mostly there's no reason for it over than wanting social acceptance.

You keep saying this but the general reaction to the game says otherwise.
By non MGS players? Everyone loves the gameplay but does not get the story from what I have seen. The story is easier to understand if you know the legend of Big Boss from MGS3 to Peace Walker to Ground Zeroes.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
One the movie discussion, the simple truth is the MGS series is too complex, too dense and too long to adapt into 2-3 hours movies. Only MGS 1 can be possibly adapted to a 3 hour movie but the others...MGS 2 lmao the Patriots reveal, SS3, la li lu le lo would just make people retire, save money, buy a farm and breed some cows for a simpler life. MGS 4 would need a movie for each chapter
I can see a MGS3 movie if they cut out the Cobra unit and focus of Big Boss/The Boss/Volgin/Ocelot/EVA. Naturally that would enrage fans but they can still make a good movie out of it. Peace Walker would be a great movie too. If they pull of the themes of war and peace as well as they were presented in the game, it will have professional critics jizzing their pants.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
No game will ever work in a straight up adaptation tbh. They just need to take the essence. It's different mediums after all. This could der be a mover from what I've seen so far.
Mercenary soldier fighting governments during the Cold War. With some mystery elements of super soldiers. I'd watch it. Snake is a tough one to adapt since he was a copy of a famous film character

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
The only thing copied was character model and name. Both Solid Snake and Big Boss have their own unique character arcs that are both amazing and does not resemble anything of Snake Plissken's.
There are some games that can be perfectly adapted to movies as long as they cut out filler. For example Max Payne but that turned out quite well...I did not watch it, I read the plot in Wikipedia and just cried.

Yeah sure they stories and arcs are different. But would still be weird for anyone who haven't played the game to see an exact copy of the character looks-wise.
Just played earlier. Got some little wolf pup, cuteness overload

Yeah, had some trouble with tanks, since I tried taking them head on with grenades.
Didn't know about bombardements
It's pretty fun, but very grinding so far. All missions feel somewhat similar as of now, but fun nonetheless.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Part II
the filler mission remains a problem throughout tbh, a lot of them feel disconnected from the plot

No 1
This, witcher and bloodborne are all on similar-ish level for me tbh. This gets personal points though.
1) MGS5
2) Witcher 3/ Bloodborne
2) Witcher 2/ Bloodborne
4) Arkham Knight

A look back at the reactions on the infamous Raiden twist.

Can't see something like this happening ever again. Love it or hate it, Kojima made a very unique mark on gaming history with the twist.
