Wilshere off injured vs Tottenham.
I think he is finished as a top player.

Yea
Hope we don't offer him a contract. Same with Cazorla. Last season for Ramsey to prove his fitness otherwise sell him too.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Agree but I would also sell Ramsey, he is just not going to repeat that season, it's been 4 years since and it's looking more like a fluke than potential.
We need a complete overhaul in midfield, only Xhaka and Elneny should stay.

Agreed tbh.
I am liking Matuidi links. Also won't mind Tielemans. Need a proper CAM too.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Kelechi Nwakali joins FC Porto on loan
The 20-year-old joined us in the summer of 2016, before immediately joining MVV Maastricht on loan. During his time in the Eerste Divisie, the Nigeria international made 34 appearances, scoring three times.
Last season Kelechi remained in Holland - stepping up to the Eredivisie with VVV Venlo - during which time he made 11 appearances and scored once.
Kelechi now heads to Portugal and we wish him all the best for his season with Porto.
The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

Nelson scored again as a sub. Not a bad loan spell for him so far. Hopefully he gets more minutes.

Season is nearly done and Emile still hasn't made a single appearance for Leipzig due to his injury.

It‘s likely agreed that he will continue next season as well, otherwise this move makes no sense.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Nelson shared some advice he received from Mertesacker that's important to bare in mind about these loans.
Mertesacker basically said that even if he's not getting regular minutes, he's learning a lot of things off the pitch that'll help him become a better professional.
If Nelson and Smith Rowe come back having played few minutes but have learned a lot tactically, how they should be training in a first team set-up, and more resilient having been outside their comfort zone for a while, their loans would have successful imo.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Seems like Martinez might have had the best loan spell. Also Bielik played over 30 matches for Reading which is fantastic. Not sure how well he did there though.
But Martinez as no 2 next season? i won't mind.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
I think Martinez has said he's going to leave if he can't be no.1. He's approaching his late 20s without being a starter anywhere, so I totally understand why he would want to go. I can't see him getting in ahead of Leno.
Bielik might actually get a chance with our centre back situation being as it is. I'd expect to see him in pre-season, at least.

Nketiah scored on his debut for Leeds in the Carabao Cup last night. He scored the first in a 3-0 win over Salford City.

He needs to really step it up this season so that he can replace Lacazette if Laca drops a pace or two this season, which for some odd reason I'm scared of happening.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
There's a piece on The Athletic about how Nketiah joined Leeds, which I think is worth summarising because the information is just that interesting.
In short:
- Arsenal now require teams to give presentations about why they'd be the best destination for a loan player
- Arsenal's new loans manager, contract negotiator Huss Fahmy and the player himself are all involved
- Nketiah had a tonne of offers, but the club reduced the number to three: Leeds, Bristol City and Fortuna Dusseldorf
- The presentation had to outline how Nketiah would be used over a whole year, how he'd fit into different systems, etc.
- Nketiah would have joined Augsburg on loan last January, but Emery changed his mind at the last minute
- Emery's good relationship with Leeds director Victor Orta helped Leeds "win"
- Arsenal see Nketiah as being close to the first team and are apparently committed to making that happen
Shows how much the club has changed from the days of sending Gnabry to fucking Tony Pulis and West Brom.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
gotta say i like that the club has changed things at the top, while not exactly at the top of ownership, but at least we're trying to shake it up at the football management level of the club. Trying at new roles for certain tasks and all of that.
Whether Emery is the right man to steer our team at the end of the day still remains to be seen, but at least we can focus on finding better players now for the next year or two for the team.

That Gnabry loan was one of the worst decisions Wenger took. No idea what he was thinking.
Full credit to Emery on this as this has to be his idea.
