Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Manchester United will meet Club Brugge, CSKA Moscow, Lazio, Monaco or Rapid Vienna in the Champions League play-offs later this month.
Who do you think it will be? Who do you want it to be?
The draw will take place in Nyon tomorrow at 11:00 AM UK .
I predict Lazio for us.

Think you can beat them all comfortably apart from Monaco and Lazio

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Honestly, I'd prefer Lazio.
The boys will be motivated to play well because Lazio is a bigger name and automatically the focus on the UCL qualifiers should be higher and they will be forced to fight harder earlier in this season than normally and if they manage to qualify there is a chance that they will be more fit and mentally prepared for the group stages.

No denying that Lazio or Monaco would definitely be interesting.
Progression to the group stages not at all that entirely secured. So glad we don't have to deal with this this season, always feels like a huge monkey on the back.
Best of luck to you guys.

Thanks! We'd better qualify in UCL and do a great job there together with the other top 4 teams from EPL for the sake of the country coefficients rankings.

I always supported English teams in Europe, no matter how bad I want some of them to perform in the EPL, except the situations when they played against teams from Romania or when United played against Arsenal/Chelsea of course.

I'm not sure I can say the same. Have this hatred towards United.
But I think it may have subsided a bit in recent years.

I also hate Arsenal and the other rivals but I hate much more other teams from other leagues and I know how important is for the English football in general and even for my fav team the fact that all the English sides have decent runs in Europe. More money, better competition, better coefficients etc.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
ffs
Smalldini looking like best CB in world
Memphis lad what needs to be said hope that gets him rolling in the league
I thought Rooney had a decent game, that *bleep* back heel to Memphis was insane, not to mention the ball by Shaw on his right foot if Memphis burried that I think I'd have to change my boxers
Fellaini our new Ole Gunnar

Hopefully Carrick stops being a regular starter. We need to play a 433.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
CL here we come Officially.
Rooney back amongst the goals. Like buses, wait for long, then 3 come. Much needed for him.
Herrera was awful in the first half, second half much better. Assist and a goal. Wonderful.
Our defence + Romero did very well.
That assist by Schweini And Memphis
We looked so much better playing the 4-3-3. Granted Brugge are nothing special and heads dropped after conceding, but we dominated and continued to look for goals and ripping their defence open.
Chicha That look LVG gave Giggs immediately after his missed penalty
Very positive win.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Group B
PSV, United, CSK Moscow, Wolfsburg
Interesting group, could have been worse. Getting PSV instead of the other seeded heavy hitters is pleasing. Travelling to Russia is a biyatch and Wolfsburg finished runners up in the Bundesliga, so these matches will be challenging, but we should have enough to top it.
MANCHESTER UNITED
15 Sep - PSV (A)
30 Sep - Wolfsburg (H)
21 Oct - CSKA Moscow (A)
3 Nov - CSKA Moscow (H)
25 Nov - PSV (H)
8 Dec - Wolfsburg (A)

Good thing we have Wolfsburg(a) last as our group game. Hopefully we're already qualified to the last 16 (as group winners) by then.

Unpopular opinion-
I don't think we'll qualify from our CL group.
Would love to be proven wrong.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
lol Wolfsburg is literally the only challenge
Russian teams fold like cheap suits in CL
and PSV is Brugge level lost there best players
quit the doom and gloom because we lost to Swansea
plus De Gea will likely be playing again

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
We'll be over relying on an out of sorts Rooney and a 19 y/o kid new to the team for goals. Memphis needs time to adapt too. Our squad is thin (after yesterday's transfer activity), one key injury to either Smalling or Rooney and we're fcked. And there's no guarantees that De Gea will solve his issues with LVG( who has been proven to be strict with players in the past when he falls out with them). In the likleihood, we'll be stuck in goal with Romero and have Johnstone as back-up.
Wolfsburg (yep, I agree will challenge us) but also CSKA are good enough to cause us problems, they beat City last season and drew at the Etihad. I think you're slightly discrediting them there.
It's not about doom and gloom, and it has nothing to do with the Swansea defeat (although that just further highlighted it), just a feeling I have.
