Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
We'll be over relying on an out of sorts Rooney and a 19 y/o kid new to the team for goals. Memphis needs time to adapt too. Our squad is thin (after yesterday's transfer activity), one key injury to either Smalling or Rooney and we're fcked. And there's no guarantees that De Gea will solve his issues with LVG( who has been proven to be strict with players in the past when he falls out with them). In the likleihood, we'll be stuck in goal with Romero and have Johnstone as back-up.
Wolfsburg (yep, I agree will challenge us) but also CSKA are good enough to cause us problems, they beat City last season and drew at the Etihad. I think you're slightly discrediting them there.
It's not about doom and gloom, and it has nothing to do with the Swansea defeat (although that just further highlighted it), just a feeling I have.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
there hasn't been a falling out with De Gea
the player said himself that his head was not in the right place so Van Gaal dropped him.
there hasn't been a blow up by any accounts, Van Gaal praised him for his professionalism.
this falling out is a fabrication.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
LVG said that De Gea was not in the right frame of mind and told LVG that he wasn't ready/unwilling to play
LVG-
From DDG's camp.
Apparently that has caused tension between them because LVG questioned DDG's professionalism.
Anyways, them putting it all behind them is not beyond the realms of possibility.
LVG-
‘Frans Hoek had a meeting with David De Gea and asked him “do you want to play?”. No.
‘Then I have to take the decision. It is a process. We had been observing him in preparation and he was not so good. He was not the same David de Gea as before.
From DDG's camp.
Sources close to De Gea have confirmed that the meeting with Hoek took place, but refuted any suggestion that he asked to be left out against Spurs and Villa.
Indeed, they say that he made it clear to Hoek that he wanted to play if selected and was subsequently disappointed to be sat in the directors’ box alongside Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard on Saturday.
They described De Gea as having a ‘completely clear conscience’ and insisted that it was Van Gaal’s decision to select new signing Sergio Romero for his debut against Spurs. The Argentine kept a clean sheet and is expected to start at Villa with young Sam Johnstone once again on the bench.
Apparently that has caused tension between them because LVG questioned DDG's professionalism.

Slagging off United, I don't know if that's aimed at me, but if it is, I'm not slagging off the club, just concerned.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
It's back!
V PSV
I'm hoping to see:
---------------------------DDG------------------------
Darmian-------Smalling----------Blind---------------Shaw
----------------Carrick-----------Schneiderlin-----------
----Mata-----------------Herrera--------------Young----
--------------------------Martial--------------------------
Bring in Young who made an instant impact v Liverpool. Young also helps out Shaw better than Memphis(defensively and offensively imo). Memphis can come on as a sub against tired legs in the 2nd half.
Schneiderlin to start ahead of Schweinsteiger due to the latter playing 90 mins on Saturday.
Martial deserves a start after his goal on Saturday. Will be buzzing and full of confidence. Will give us that much needed pace to run in behind and stretch PSV's defenders.
Fellaini to come in with 30 mins to go depending on how the result is going. Not starting please LVG.

Martial starting
No Schneiderlin or Carrick though, that is a very attacking line-up.
Great start to the group please. C'mon!

We're just pathetic at times. Had enough chances to kill the game off, but that last half an hour was pathetic.
Fellaini coming on killed us. mata at no. 10 was shit.
Only good thing about this game was Martial and Memphis link up play. Martial was superb.
Get better Shaw.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Can't really blame the players today. Was 1 of those days. Dominated them almost entirely and still managed to loose somehow.
Plus there's this curse on lvg whenever he plays PSV. His record against them is abysmal. Wont surprise me if something similar happen at home too.
Also it will never be easy on players after seeing Shaw. Psychologically it will have a bearing after such an incident.
Having said that I am confident we will go through.
Yea Martial looked superb.
PS Never really cared about the result tbh after the horrific incident. My only concern was about Shaw. Keeping fingers crossed. It does look pretty bad in fact.

I think the Shaw injury effected us tbh...i know it sounds like an excuse but the big delay plus the worry of how he was doing could effect the team greatly imo

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
I think you may have point there. Reminiscent of the way Arsenal folded after Eduardo's leg break in 08.
No excuses though of course, our players shouldn't be so mentally fragile to concede such sloppy goals.
And the way Mata fluffed that chance created by Shweinsteiger was infuriating
It's still early days though, we have an opportunity to rectify things, starting by winning our home games, then picking off points away. All remains in our hands still.

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Such a vital 3 points, especially after a terrible start. Played well from when we conceded the goal, right up until Basti was subbed. Huge hole in the middle, no one able to hold on to possession, we were bombarded by Wolfsburg for the last 20 minutes. Looked inevitable we'd concede, but thankfully that didn't happen.
The brilliant- Martial, Mata, Smalling, Schweinsteiger
The bad- Memphis, Schneiderlin, Valencia
The worst- Rooney.
All teams are on 3 points now. Back in it. Good win.

Valencia was far worse then Rooney
pls take the haterade glasses off
Schneiderlin looked like a red card waiting to happen and probably should of been sent off
and everything good we do this season seems begin with Mata, has already beaten his goal total he had at Chelsea...maybe just maybe worth the money we paid for him now...even better now that, that pleb Mourinho is in the shit

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Mata's been fantastic so far this season. Hopefully he keeps it up because he and Martial seem to be our only creative outlets. Martial unlucky not to have an assist tonight with the Rooney chance. Swear Mata's been involved in 95% of our goals this season. (% taking out of my ass but you get the point)
Darmian was legit again too
still not convinced Depay will be a WC talent, poor finishing, decision making, etc,
honestly I'd rather Young be starting big games atm with Depay rotating

Memphis's decision making is what is holding him back right now...but he get's himself into great positions with the ball and creates problems just needs to work on the final product

Re: Manchester United 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League
Memphis is too eager to impress. He needs to realise that the team comes first, rather than trying to do everything on his own.
I agree with Mac that he does get himself into good positions, just lacks that quality decisiveness that will come with more experience.
On the other side of the spectrum, Martial is the opposite. 19 y/o and has the composure of a seasoned veteran. Seriously been impressed with what I've seen of him so far.
