Where are you staying? near anywhere high profile? Not like it makes it any better because someone will be effected should they attack.

Re: ISIS terror attacks around the world
Incomprehensible. It is impossible for me to even imagine how those involved, directly or indirectly, feel at this moment and words fail in properly expressing the distress, grief, and concern for them.
We should even in such emotional circumstances, ESPECIALLY in such emotional circumstances, keep some perspective and control our more base instinctual reactions. Before blaming or cursing anyone or any group, let's wait for reliable information on the perpetrators and their motives and before we curse humanity (or any segment thereof) en masse let us remember that ultimately violence begets violence, hate begets hate, and death only invites more death. Though they may not share our values for life and law, we should not abandon them. May those who perpetrated these heinous acts face proper justice in this life, and whatever (G)od(s) or powers that may be visit ultimate judgement on them once beyond. That is for the (perhaps near) future though, for now my thoughts are on and wishes with the victims, their families and friends, and those in Paris at this moment.

What he meant is a lot of humans are inherently evil not all. You could change "a lot" to "some" if you want to but the point still stands.

Re: ISIS terror attacks around the world
All humans are inherently capable of evil and good... it comes down to programming (i.e. upbringing, social pressures, other influences, etc.) whether a person chooses to do good or evil.
Also keep in mind that "good" and "evil" are just terms. Defining them in someone's mind is again dependent on their programming. So although we may see today as pure "evil", the terrorists are programmed to see these events as a blessing.
To me, you're never going to defeat this thinking unless you attack it at the sources... namely, the places and people performing the programming.
The people in power in these organizations are rarely the ones carrying out the attacks. You're just seeing the soldiers in action.

Basically everything comes from there.
Then we had the Talibans , 11 September and other wicked "export of democracy" made by Bush and everything degenerated completely. ..
Yep. We can go further back of course in the history of geopolitical meddling.
But it's absolutely mind boggling what a monumental, consequential crime and *bleep* the Iraq War was. And the people who perpetrated it are free and going about their business, becase hey, let's look forward not backwards right, Obama?

Looks like it's confirmed.
Was hoping there was a lot of misinformation and the toll would be less than 40.
Awful. One of the worst attacks in recent years. A true black mark in history.
Thoughts with everyone

Even if the terrorists are killed, they have already won. People will be divided and they will have the chance to recruit much more people. They probably think of it as a game, sacrifice 5 and recruit 100 more.

Nah I don't think you should be very concerned. Because first UK and US have better security.ES wrote:Feeling unsafe knowing there might be an attack on London..
Secondly, SURELY, SURELY after this major steps are going to have to be taken against Isis.

ISIS was Al Qaeda and will be something else in a few years.... it's an ideology. How do you stop ideology? You can defeat the current incarnation of the ideology with weapons. But you need to start targeting people's hearts and minds. We've let his fester for centuries. It's not something that's going to happen quickly assuming we actually implement a policy that targets people's hearts and minds... which we haven't started yet.

Don't worry, we have probably the best security in the world against event such as these.
However it's highly likely there will be attempts at other cities too. But security will be tighter as well.

Re: ISIS terror attacks around the world
All this reminds me of a paragraph from a short story:
I walk towards the next booth of the Billion Year Fair where heaps of crystal drops are glistening on black velvet.
A sign next to them says "Crystal tears from the Earth, 7 a piece for a good wish."
"Why have the crystal tears become so cheap?" I ask the man behind the counter.
"They let the girl who cries them watch the news every day", he replies.

Exactly, this is the only solution. People need to be educated and given different perspectives. Imagine this, there is a person born in a room and has lived his entire life in this room, he is taught that the people on the other end of the door are bad and that they deserve to die. Due to that lack of a different perspective, the person will no doubt attack the people on the other side of the door.

Not sure how true it is, but twitter is saying ISIS have taking responsibility and their next attacks are London, Rome and Washington.
Could be bollocks, in fact it probably is but thought i'd mention it.

Not destabilizing governmental structures all over a region, and not indescriminately arming and funding 'rebel groups' and 'freedom fighters' out of short sighted tactical reasons might be a start.

Re: ISIS terror attacks around the world
The issue is that we don't respect the people of these countries... we view these countries according to who can exercise authority and power. These authorities are often brutalizing their people to gain power. As democratic countries, you would think that we'd understand the power of the people as opposed to temporary power figures. By ignoring the people and supporting authoritative regimes made us the enemy since we were supporting the source of people's misery.... that view isn't going to change.
Until recently, there's wasn't much the extremists segment of these people could do directly to us... so we didn't care. But now they can. Unfortunately, we're suffering the consequences of our own foreign policy.

Re: ISIS terror attacks around the world
death count is 118 so far... there were 6-7 different attack sites according the Deputy Mayor of Paris. So it's very hard for them to get exact numbers and they expect it to go up drastically. But so far, it's over 118 and that's only one 1 of the sites (the Bataclan). When they add the other sites...

That's the fear.... Charlie Hebdo attack was taken responsibility for by ISIS very shortly after it happened. Since there is no official responsibility taken, they police feel that it's not over yet... they will only take responsibility when everything in the operation is finished.
