Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
The more I look at Newcastle the more I think that they are very capable of taking that 7th spot over Southampton and Everton. I've got a good feeling about their season.

Hapless_Hans wrote:In between Ramos and Bale bids, Woody won't be sitting on his hands though.
He'll try for Reus and Hummels again even though everyone agrees they'll stay, and make a combined 120m bid to sign both Müller and Lewandowski at the same time.
He'll even try to sign Vidal from us even though he just transfered, a speculative push that will spawn 7500 both enthusiastic and highly sceptic posts on Redcafé.
The Pedro transfer won't happen because Barca want 26m € while Utd are only willing to pay 24,5m.
As an alternative, Woody will turn to Isco, who could be available for 17,5m £, as will be reported exclusively by the Daily Express.
His calls are not returned.
Neither Cavani nor Ibrahimovic will materialize as Woody can't decide which one he likes better so he'll insist on both of them. His calls are not returned by PSG either.
This setback will prompt Woody to extend the combined Müller and Lewandowski bid to 125m, now also including Robben.
On the last day of the window, imposters dressed as lawyers will show up at the Spanish FA office with briefcases containing Messi's 1 billion release fee, partly in cash but mostly in US government bonds.
In the hectic surrounding this ingenious move, Utd however will forget to fax Otamendi's transfer documents in time before deadline, when the poor fellow had already been scouting homes in Manchester and saying goodbye to his teammates.
In a surprising and thrilling deadline day twist, the Spanish FA will accept the cash and bonds in the briefcases, and Messi will last minute transfer to Manchester United without his knowledge, where he subsequently will be benched by van Gaal in favour of Fellaini.
Philosophy.
Funny.
And not far from the truth too. LOL.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
Nah and i'm not saying this to be contrarian.
There's too many factors that need to go well for us to do that.
We have enough attacking talent in the front 4 to do that, i'm really excited about the attacking players we have actually. But aside from Wijnaldum the CMs are absolutely shit and we have only added one defender to a group which has conceded over 100 goals in last two seasons.
Then there's the obvious period of adjustment that the new players will need on top of a new style of play and coaching staff. Which is the biggest issue of them all, getting the players to forget the habits that Pardew and his shite coaching staff drained into them and learn what McClaren wants them to do.
I see us being inconsistent because of that, it's not something which is happening overnight. As long as i see improvement as the season goes on and a genuine push to play a certain way and to see individuals develop then i'm happy irrelevant of where we finish.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
I dunno, for me I think that when you are a midtable team with the firepower to outscore other midtable to bottom table teams it's a way that you can abuse to the European spots. I don't think you have to be good defensively to make it there, and I don't think that McClaren will try to be. There's enough good attacking talent on Newcastle to bully the rest of that range of teams (especially since they won't clam up like they do against the top 4 - 6 teams).
Any idea what the starting XI for day 1 is looking like?

Palace have a better chance at finishing higher in the table than Newcastle.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
Yeah but that attacking talent will only be fulfilled if the team passes the ball with fluency.... atm from what i have seen we look really dangerous in pre season when we move the ball at pace, but it doesn't happen often enough yet it's something that will take time.
I'm prepared to be patient if the end goal is what i described in the previous post. As for the team on opening day i have no idea tbh
I would want this....

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
Colback can't be the deepest midfielder, he has absolutely no awareness of how to play the position and just leaves massive gaps in behind which will just make the defenders isolated.
If that happens we will struggle to finish higher than 14th lol.

Mourinho has signed a contract extension with Chelsea.

Pellegrini signed an extension until 2017. Will be sacked this season, though.

it makes no difference anyway. if roman wants him gone then hes gone. if jose wants to quit he will quit. its funny how managers can quit mid contract and go to another club but players cant.GoonerJay29 wrote:Mourinho has signed a contract extension with Chelsea.

No they can't. The new club has to pay compensation (transfer fee) to the manager's previous club if they didn't let him go willingly.

That's another thing when the club has to compensate the fired manager for a part of his remaining salary. Another is when you have to pay for the manager of another club. Like, we paid money to Swansea to get the wonderful Brendan and Palace paid money to Newcastle to get the genius Pardew.

Pardew told him to be Essien and he's been crap ever since
Also i haven't seen him all pre season so i kind of ignore that he exists at this point

good idea but how can they prove a player is not really hurt. and how can they judge what counts as a player being hurt.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:This been posted?

at least they can watch a reply to see if a player dived. tbh I cant see this rule going anywhere. it will be like the rule that says a keeper has to kick it after 5 seconds what ever it was. they didn't stick to it.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Exactly my reaction to it, same with diving tbh.
