Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Agreed about Dzeko, if he's available I add him in Falcao's place. Don't know enough about Jonathas but he's being hyped a lot too and has enjoyed a great season for Elche.
Bruno Soriano and Thiago Motta (assuming that's who you meant) would be top options no doubt if as you said we were not looking for a long term DM.
Now that Falcao/Kondogbia are gone as options I'd replace them with Dzeko/Illarramendi in my list if they are available.
Edit: lel http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3132631/Manchester-City-striker-Edin-Dzeko-no-reason-leave-despite-talk-Chelsea-Roma-summer.html

Apparently Carlos Bacca has a £21m release clause. Would much rather go for him than Dzeko.

Amazing how we get to this point every. single. year.
Club photographer Stuart MacFarlane follows Petr Cech on Twitter, the internet freaks out, he clarifies that he's also just a fan and has no idea what's going on with transfers.
ffs this starved fanbase of ours

People being dumb and ignorant on social media. Nothing new there.
Though I don't think anything will top that golf journalist going all Internet Bullshit Artist and announcing that Fabregas was returning to Arsenal. Or that Wayne Gooney account that convinced people we were signing Fellaini, Fabregas, Higuain and Rooney in one go.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
How about Geoff Arsenal circa July 2013 so no one gets confused thinking it's today lol.
"Right. Don't shoot the messenger.
I asked if Higuain is done as reported by Sky.
I was told. "It's close". "Rooney next".
Blimey."

If only FIFA 16 came out sooner, could send some valuable up to date info to arsene in time to move our transfers along quicker

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Any chance we play Chambers at DM where he belongs next year, or are we just going to have him be way down the CB depth chart, forget we even have him before loaning him to west ham in 3 years.
Im ok with not signing a DM as long as we actually use him. What I'm not ok with, is signing players like Chambers for nearly 20m£, never use them, and then balk at players who would fit right into positions we actually need for similar prices.

Calum Chambers played a great deal last season and that was at the age of 19... We spent a chunk on Chamberlain and he took some time to become an important first team player, to find his position and nail it down, expect the same from Chambers.
We kind of forced him to settle in quickly last season and he started to show signs of burnout halfway through the season but he definitely got enough chances and at his age, he's only going to get more. Question is just whether those are at DM or CB.
Only see it happening at DM if we sign another CB but who's really going to want to come to Arsenal to be 4th choice besides a young player and does that really solve anything?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Don't see why Chambers suddenly "belongs" in midfield when he's played one game there for us, or why we should be considering that as an option over buying someone for the position. We're not going to close the gap on Chelsea and challenge for the title with a 19 year old who's barely played in midfield playing in midfield.
There's no need to rush with him. He played 36 times last season (28 were starts), which, iirc, was more than the original target number of games we set for him, not to mention the caps he got playing for England at senior and youth level. That's hardly "never using him". Next season he'll be cover for centre back and right back, and in midfield in case of emergencies, and if he needs more games come January, we can send him on loan.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I know he played last year due to injury.. But I'm talking about next season, season after. We brought in another CB (rumors about bringing in another one?)
He was awful every time playing at RB, plus we have debuchy and bellerin pretty much locked there. Plus I suppose we want to hang on to Jenkinson too. Chambers cost a lot and I just want to see him used but Wenger does have a tendency to phase players out rather than rotating them. He won't get nearly that many starts or playing time next season if he doesn't play him in midfield. Wenger even said he sees him best suited there. I just want to see a better solution to this DM rotation issue next season. Chambers doesn't have to play there if Wenger doesn't see him there. But if he doesn't please just bring in someone who can and will get game time there. It's just frustrating that we can spend a lot on project like players who sometimes get phased out of the rotation but balk and the prices of players who suit our needs. Idk.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
You just said it yourself, he played a lot more than he should have because of injuries, why are you so sure he just won't play at all or that we won't have to play him?
Between injuries, form dropping and suspensions there's plenty of chances for a younger player to get a chance in the first team and Chambers' 36 apps last season show that he certainly is in contention to play any time.
It's simple. If we sign a DM/CM, he's a CB, if not, he could play in either position.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Wenger is clearly unreliable when talking about the best position of his players, he has said before that Wilshere is best suited playing from the deep, now that Hodgson is playing him there.. he's changed his mind and things he's best in an attacking position. There's Chamberlain, Theo and now Chambers too, it's like he wants to confuse us.
I'm pretty sure we won't sign a defensive midfielder though after Coquelin's comeback, Arteta signing an extension and Flamini confirming going nowhere. There's also Krystian Bielik to be considered, Wenger paid £2.5m for him and will make sure he has a clear path to the first team. So we might see Chambers there after all when our injury prone midfielders are as usually injured.

Feel like we won't see anything on Cech if it's really as close as it's said to be until Chelsea secure a replacement like how we waited for Newcastle to sign Janmaat before announcing Debuchy.

Sky Sports News: Petr Cech agrees personal terms with Arsenal. "All that is left" is to agree a fee between two clubs.
Yep. That's all.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ospina slowly turning to Richard Wright, bought with great expectation, played ok and about to be sold after just one year with less than 20 games. Wenger hardly sells his players that quick unless he see them as completely useless ( hello Jeffers, Park)
Incidently Richard Wright still on City payroll
