I wouldn't go that far, but yeah I don't think he's going to be a starter, at least not immediately. He had a good preseason which I guess is the reason for all the hype, but as I said before I still think Paletta-Roma will be our CB pairing.

As for the lineup m99 posted, if and only if we get Ibra, that suddenly looks like a very good team. Otherwise I cannot stress how desperately we will need a creative midfielder.

I don't think Ely will play from the start.
But most of all, I think we are still missing a Number 10

MDS Romagnoli Mexes Antonelli (Calabria Ely Alex MDS)
Montolivo NDJ Bertolacci (Bonaventura Jose Mauri Poli)
??? (Honda)
Bacca Adriano (Cerci Niang)

Milan fans are amongst the most chilled out fans on the forum. We don't like to get all "Arsenal are back" about things before they happen. As for Tom, I think Juve has problems of their own... I hope Siqueira helps to solve all those issues. Thumbs up

Why did you get rid of ES btw? Haven't followed much up on it. I just saw you buying some good players so I was really surprised you got ride of ES..

Getting rid of ES is seen by almost all Milan fans as being an awful move by our management. Nobody is able to pinpoint the precise reason why he left beyond speculation about various causes. Possible theories include 1) that the club is short of cash (doesn't make any sense given recent circumstances); 2) that Ibra is going to take his game-time (not looking likely at the moment), and 3) that Sinisa and SES disagreed about his role in the upcoming season.

Due to a range of factors, SES failed to continue his development after his break-out half season a few years back. The top 3 reasons for his underdevelopment would be that injuries have sidelined him for extended periods, there has been decline in the quality of the players around him; the coaching situation has been extremely unstable.

We wish SES all the best in Monaco, but we'd rather he was still here. His sale is disturbing given that he was a bright prospect who was needlessly sold whilst there is a veritable tonne of deadwood in our squad that hasn't been shifted.

Because we hadn't done anything self destructive in about three weeks.

On Romagnoli, I'm very pleased to see us investing in a young central defender. We need to have realistic expectations concerning Alessio however. He's still very young and will undoubtedly have some poor performances in the next year however he showed at Sampdoria that he possesses all the necessary fundamentals to grow into a very fine player. He's an aggressive defender, good in the air, fairly mobile and adventurous on the ball, he likes to advance into midfield with the ball at his feet. Have we overpaid? It's a very large fee but when considering his current level, his age and Roma's status as our rivals for the Champions League, it's a very understandable sum. I'm far less upset with paying 25 + bonuses for Romagnoli compared to 20 for Bertolacci.

As for who will partner Romagnoli, I feel that Sinisa will likely put Alex next to him at RCB given his experience, with Ely acting as his back up. I am hopeful that Ely might grow into a starting role but I would not expect him to immediately be given so much responsibility ahead of an important season. I expect Mexes to function as Alessio's reserve given their similar qualities. I would not have minded Paletta remaining as a reserve but not upset to see him depart. Hopefully others follow him out the door but with Zaccardo rejecting every offer that comes his way that's highly doubtful.

Why did we sell ES

Agreed on our lack of a 10 however I feel that if we get Zlatan to play alongside either Bacca or Adriano then we can get away with having a very workman like player at AM. If we can't however then I feel that Menez, as much as I dislike him, is the only player in the squad now who can really be used as a link between the midfield and the attack.

There's still plenty of time left in the market however. As I always say, we can judge our window and our squad only when the market shuts. We could well improve or we could well regress in the next few weeks. We've made one important step today but we need two more pieces ideally.

Stopping buy to congratulate you guys on the signing of Romagnoli. 30mil is a lot of cheese for a young player so I'm not that displeased with the sale but I do worry for his development. As of right now, Alessio is only loyal to Sinisa and rightly so as he was the one manager to display a ton of faith in his ability, but if for some reason he were to be fired early on in the season I could see Alessio instantly regretting his choice to join your club and thus affecting his performance.

Not sure if our club will even be willing to sell Zapata. Paletta will probably leave as his agent said he would if Romagnoli joins.

I very much doubt we'd refuse any reasonable offer for Zapata, even with the likely departure of Paletta to Atalanta we would still be left with Romagnoli, Alex, Mexes, Zaccardo and Ely in the centre. Given that Serie A squads will be limited to 25 players from the 2016 season onwards it's important that we steadily act to reduce our bloated numbers.

This being said, we've posted a "full list" of squad numbers for the upcoming season and neither Zaccardo or Zapata have been included. Proud

Zapata is in there (No. 17) http://www.acmilan.com/en/news/show/158296

But Zaccardo, Agazzi and Verdi are not, they will probably leave.

What do you think about our link to Monaco's Abdennour? It would be great to get another defender.

Ye it will be nice getting another defender but definitely not Abdenour since he is quite expensive, left footed like Romagnoli and plays in the same position as him. The only way we can get him now is for him to act as a back up to Roma but we don't have the luxury of splashing on an expensive back up player right now

Adriano Galliani wrote:“I don’t think that PSG will let Ibrahimovic leave, it’s very difficult that he’ll leave. If he does then we’ll be there (trying to sign him). Percentages? At the moment the deal is not feasible so I don’t do percentages. Milan are attentive and alert but for the moment I say no but the market is long,” Galliani told Mediaset Premium before the Trofeo TIM.

“A midfielder? We don’t need anything. We’re well-covered in all areas. I think that our transfer market campaign ends here, even though interesting options always can occur. Our transfer market campaign is over for now, but we will see what happens at the end of August. A rating? The journalists and the fans give ratings to the market but President Berlusconi has made a great financial effort for his Milan.

“I hear from the President every day, he’s passionate and wants Milan to do well. If Mihajlovic is forced to reach the third place this season? That’s the objective, but he’s not forced to reach it.”

We probably won't be signing any more defenders. For once, I agree with Galliani, we are pretty stacked in defense. Abdennour was probably the fall back option if the Romagnoli deal fell through.

I would be nice to get another AM/Trequartista for sure, but I think Ibra is the only signing we might make now. Though PSG seem like they want to hold onto him, so the chances look bleak.

Soriano to Milan is gaining rapid steam.
What kind of midfielder is he?
Is he in any way creative and technical or just another workhorse with little footballing IQ?
