Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
Jose Mourinho handshake snubbed by Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert and Roy Keane as Chelsea boss left before full time:
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert refused to shake Jose Mourinho's hand on Saturday because the Chelsea boss left before the full time whistle, instead pointing to his watch

To be honest, that's annoyed me since he started doing it too. Don't blame Lambert for not shaking his hand and surprised others haven't done it sooner.

Meh, he can leave whenever.
But Paul should shake his hand.

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
So he leaves several minutes early out of disrespect and the other manager should be obligated to shake his hand regardless?

He's not leaving out of disrespect.
I think at that point he thought the game was over, he was seen standing in the tunnel waiting after this point.
He should shake his hand regardless. It's good sportsmanship.

So is staying till the final whistle.
One side tossing aside its sportsmanship entitles the other to do the same.

He said himself he doesn't. Remember the "I leave early to call my wife and tell her the result" rubbish from last year?

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
He does it every game, meaning Lambert and Keane will have known about it well ahead of time. Whether he left completely this particular time is immaterial and how were the pair of them supposed to know he was only going to the tunnel anyway?

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
You'd pay attention to when the opposing manager leaves?
No, that'd be bottom of the list of priorities.

Like I said, this is something he's been doing for ages now and everyone knows about it.
It's beyond arrogant.

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
What kind of message does intentionally leaving every game several minutes early send to the opposition managers?

It's rarely several minutes early. It's like 30 seconds.
Also, why should they care?

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
Mourinho could take a dump on the opposition bench at halftime and you'd find a way to defend it.

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Aston Villa
Leaving minutes early effectively says to the opposition manager, "I've already done what I needed to do and can't be bothered with this anymore. Therefore take your attention off of what's going on on the pitch and personally give me an early sending-off handshake and goodbye"
Would you leave every class a minute or two early everyday? And if you did, would you expect the professor to stop what he/she was doing and personally say goodbye to you each time you did? It's the same thing.

It's not the same. They are equals, not a student and teacher.

No its not.
They're equals so he has no obligation to stay because of the other manager.
