I agree. I do care about the 5 hour longer battery capacity, but I'm not going to upgrade from my Iphone X already, and I'm seriously considering getting a Samsung for my next phone. Apple stopped being innovative with their phones since Steve Jobs passed away. They don't even distinguish themselves by producing smaller phones with hardware comparable to it's larger competitors, anymore.

I mean, how much can you innovate in ONE year even if you care about development and not only the money? iOS is still ahead of Android, way more efficient.
Apple has lost itself in pricing of their products but I still choose iPhone over any Android phone every time.

Lmao. Android phones were introducing things like waterproofing, triple cameras, night pictures, etc way before Apple. Apple's innovation strategy is basically "see what other people are doing and if it sticks after a few years adopt it"

One year? It's been almost a decade now, where they've lagged behind the likes of Samsung, Huawei and probably other brands as well. They have a powerful crutch in their trademark designs and brand power, but they're not ahead of the pack anymore. Steve Jobs made sure that they were. Tim Cook seems more like a "steady the ship"- type.

At least up until last year Apple was comfortably the most innovative company. Just stumbled upon an article saying that Apple patented 3D Face ID already back in 2011.
Steve Jobs was very much ahead of the game and left the company with his vision but now they're running out of his inheritance and obviously they were bound to at some point.

Re: Official Apple Thread
Probably yeah, not gonna lie. But Apple's Face ID is still way ahead of the game.
My brother has some top of the line Xiaomi that he bought impulisvely when his previous phone suddenly broke and it's been advertised as better than iPhones for half the price but my x-year old 6S is much, much better lol
I'm never switching back to Android unless some catastrophic failure occurs.

Re: Official Apple Thread
Reports claim that next year's iphone will return to it's 4-inch, Iphone 4 design. I should be happy about this, if true, but something tells me that the 4-inch phone will feel awkwardly small now that I've gotten so used to having a larger phone.

Re: Official Apple Thread
Was walking by an apple store yesterday and I went in to check how the 11 feels and looks. I'm being totally honest- I have fairly big hands and I hate it. Anything over 6 inches is fckn absurd. Feels like a brick.
I'd pay ANY money for a 4 inch phone. I refuse to believe the rumors though. I hope they at least make a new 4.7inch otherwise I'll be whipped into submission and forced to buy the old iPhone 8.

The leaked designs were reported by a guy who goes by the name of Kuo, who's apparently become quite reputable for predicting Apple releases, and correctly predicted that Iphone would release 3 models last year.
I was wrong regarding the size. I assumed it was 4 inches since the original Iphone 4 was 4 inches. However, this guy claims the phone will come in the sizes 5.4", 6.1" and 6.7", but have a similar design to the Iphone 4, minus the clunky, "frame within the glass frame" that phone had.

Re: Official Apple Thread
Are you an iphone guy?
The most likely rumor is that they'll release another 4.7inch phone in March and it'll be the smallest in the lineup.
I'm holding out till new years' for more credible info about the size & price, otherwise i'm getting iPh8, still gonna be supported for a couple years anyway.

I’ve had an iphone for the past 15 years or so, so yeah, I guess I’m an Iphone guy. I have contemplated getting a Samsung a few times, though.

Re: Official Apple Thread
I'd be genuinely surprised if they ever release a 4inch phone. Maybe one of those classic iphone4 redesign as an anniversary thing but not a proper new 4inch phone

Yeah, i been reading theres like a 1% chance. Even 4.7inch is questionable.
5.5 might be the smallest one come next fall which saddens me deeply.

Apple to launch SE2 in March, iPhone 8 design, 4.7inch, 3GB RAM, A13 bionic chip (newest & fastest iPhone 11 processor). Priced at $399 which would be dirt cheap.
this is exactly what I want. latest processor and 4.7 screen. Apple listeened to my prayers

Apple has been fined 25 million euros (£21m, $27m) for deliberately slowing down older iPhone models without making it clear to consumers.

Re: Official Apple Thread
Apple offers (or at least offered up until now) zero transparency so this came as no surprise. Their intention was for this to never see daylight which is awful. They should have told their customers that simply replacing the battery fixes the issue but instead they wanted more new phone sales.
That being said, every phone slows down with time. I had a Samsung Galaxy something once and it was so laggy, almost unusable after 2-3 years while my iPhone 6S was still going strong in 2019 after about 3 years of use so I didn't really get the whole "Batterygate" at the time.

The rumored $399 iPhone SE2 is nearing its announcement. Could be a decent idea to come out with a cheaper option in times of economic uncertainty.
iPhone 9 update
— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) March 31, 2020
Per an internal meeting yesterday, Apple is now preparing for an April release.
Tentative dates:
- Announcement on April 15
- Shipments on April 22
Keep in mind: we’re in the middle of a pandemic, and things could change.

Re: Official Apple Thread
Yup. Surprised actually.
I gifted my sister iphone 11 pro on her birthday few months ago. She barely uses it because she hates how big it is. Might just ask her to sell it and get this one.
but that will hurt my feelings so she better not.

I'm waiting for tech reviewers to put up their vids after 1-2 weeks of use.
Battery life is my only concern tbh, other than that I love the 4'7 size and touch id

Re: Official Apple Thread
Reviews are in, apparently it lasts even up to several hours longer than the 8 with the new power-efficient A13 bionic.

I'm pretty much sold at this point. And the haptic Touch ID is just lovely, nothing can replace that responsive home button, maybe I'm old school.

Re: Official Apple Thread
I'm new school, I guess. I actually think it would take a while for me to get used to not having face recognition anymore. I don't just use it to open up my phone, I use it as a replacement for manually entering certain passwords and codes, as well. It's so convenient that I sometimes forget that I had just used it to access my mobile bank, or whatever it may be. I wasn't always super comfortable with using Face ID. It felt kind of odd at first, too convenient almost, but I've become so accustomed to it that anything else would just feel like a substantial step backwards, at this point.
iPhone X felt impractically large at first, as well. I've always preferred smaller phones. But contrary to my initial assumption, I've gotten more than used to the larger sized screen. It doesn't feel large anymore, and I've officially ended my wait for a new, top of the line, 4 inch, iPhone.
