2014/15 Winter Transfer Rumours

Manchester United will continue their big-spending strategy in January, and have put Kevin Strootman at the top of their wishlist.

The Premier League outfit spent over £150m over the summer bringing in the likes of Radamel Falcao, Angel di Maria and Ander Herrera.

But The Guardian has insisted that Louis van Gaal will be given even more funds during the winter window to improve the squad.

And the paper believes that the Roma midfielder will be their number one priority come January, as they look to bolster their options.

The Netherlands international impressed during his first season in the Italian capital, but suffered a terrible knee injury towards the end of the campaign that saw him miss the World Cup.

Reports are that Strootman will be available to play in October, and Manchester United will wait until then to see if the 24-year-old is back to his full capacity.

If he is, then the Old Trafford will come in with a bid, thought to be in the region of around €30m.

That said, he could really help their team and would be very helpful in shielding their less than stellar defence. Ugh. I hate that ManU is going after strong Dutch talent.

Same Roma who keep stockpiling midfield talent and already sold Benatia for less than that?

If United are still struggling come January,then Roma have a chance to r*pe the shit out of them.And its January we're talking about,the market wouldnt be as open as it is in the summer.So i think only a huge offer would persuade them to sell him.Lets not forget this is also the same team who paid 45m euros for a Chelsea outcast last winter.

I don't disagree but they had a chance to rape teams for Benatia this summer and they didn't.
