Mehdi Benatia could be taken off the market, as his agent met with Roma today to improve his wages.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich were all determined to sign the Moroccan international for at least €30m.

However, Sky Sport Italia and the Gazzetta dello Sport claim agent Moussa Sissoko met with Giallorossi director of sport Walter Sabatini this afternoon.

It’s reported the club agreed to increase his wages with a new contract deal, which is what Benatia had wanted in May.

The defender said he had been promised an improved salary, but demanded a transfer after that did not happen.

A move to Manchester City collapsed at the last minute.

Benatia currently earns around €1.25m per season and is set to receive closer to €3m for a contract that runs to 2018.

During Nani's loan at Sporting, his wages will cost them over £5million. So Man United are paying well over £20million for Rojo.

A lot of money, perhaps too much. But it does fit profile wise.

He and Jones fit what you'd want from the wide CBs, however still have the issue of Smalling or Evans being the centrepiece of the 3 lol.

I'm guessing the entire transaction to cost 20m pounds or so.Rojo is partly owned by a 3rd party ownership too so Man U must have paid some amount to them as well.

Bayern close in on Benatia

Manchester United are set to miss out on Mehdi Benatia, with Bayern Munich closing in on the defender. Spurred on by injury to Javi Martinez, Die Roten have made a €30 million bid for the Moroccan, who says he only wants to move to the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has admitted to rejecting a lucrative offer to join Manchester United.

He told Bild when asked if United had come close to signing him: “Of course.

“I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer.

“The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me."
