Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Messi should of won the award. I'm just saying it's not a some giant disgrace if you look at the stats I posted. If they are going by numbers other than JUST goals scored (which is what the golden shoe is for) then I can see why they gave it to him.

David Luiz being named into the team of the tournament is a bigger joke. Dudes a defender, and is on the team that got scored on the most. His goals shouldn't of put him ahead of some of the other defenders that had better over all games like Blind, Vlaar or what not.

It's an absolute joke and disgrace that Messi wins that award. Of course the usual Messi semen swallowers like mole are in here defending it as per usual.

I find the worst part is that Messi didn't care.

Give it to James and he'd be over the moon to win it.

Messi past that trophy off like he didn't want it.

Who said he's been named? The official team hasn't been announced. That was just from some agency.

About Messi winning the golden ball I feel he didn't really deserve it but of course he was much better than some people want to give him credit for. Neuer would have been a worthy winner and it was so disgraceful not to have him in the shortlist. James also may have been a worthy winner.

Yeah that was a lose lose situation for messi. If he looked anything but miserable he'd get blamed for not caring about losing. Looking disappointed was probably the wisest choice, probably was distraught anyway

Who cares about facts? Müller scored a goal in a 7:1 win. It was his only goal in a knock out game but heeeeey. Robben didn't do shit in a knock out game apart from getting one penalty for his team against Mexiko...... give him the golden ball already! Rodriguez lost every chance of winning the title when he couldn't turn the game against Brazil. Unfair? Probably. But at the end of the day that's just how it works.

Did we really see a jaw dropping performance of Messi even worth talking about? No, we didn't.

All we remember is Messi bailing out a poor Argentina in a shitty group in the dying moments of a game where he had no impact for almost 90 minutes.

He didn't deserve it, and by his reaction it seems like he knew it himself.

I agree with the marking part. James had more freedom than the likes of Nerman, Messi and Robben.

I don't think Messi should have got it personally, but the idea that he was shit and shouldn't be in the running is way too far fetched

Those that voted were not gonna pick a player whose team got knocked out in the quarter finals so James, unfortunately, would have not gotten pick. Was there an actual time that even happened?!. Anyway, very much disagree with Messi receiving the Golden Ball but what is done is very much done.

Still feel genuinely bad for the little man though. Totally understand his nonchalant emotion when receiving a trophy that, in all honesty, means nothing at this point.
