please stop, clearly the best player for argentina...

not even a messi fan and it wasn't that he was playing special this WC but hardly anyone else were playing special aswell. Germany was a team effort and none stood out meanwhile Argentina were carried by their defence, mascherano, di maria and messi. and messi was clearly the best of his team

lmao james hype is getting retarded. it has to stop before GL takes it next level like it always does.

James hasn't done shit. Im sorry but a great WC doesnt guarantee you the hype he is getting right now. honestly alot of us hadnt even seen his games before he scored these fantastic 2 goals. fantastic young player but right now he isnt even close to messis level or performances

That's irrelevant.

He was fantastic in that WC and that's all that matters in this discussion.

it does matter, somebody needs to stop it before GL goes in to delusion-land liek it always does. i like football discussion with realism in it and not based on hype and delusions of other members.

and messi carried his team and had a fantastic WC too. he even got further in to the competition. clearly the more worthy winner

Can't believe Yaya Toure didn't get this award. Whoever decided to give it to Messi instead is racist.

Lolz. Messi didn't score after the group stage but how does that mean he went missing? He was still amazing and him winning the golden ball isn't wrong. You could've given it to James or Robben or someone but it's not as if the decision is completely wrong. He certainly was one of the best individuals of the tournament. First people complain that everyone only looks at goals scored and a couple years later they look at goals scored only themselves.

Messi wasn't even Argentina's best player. The award was clearly rigged in his favor.

i'd have given the award to someone on the winning team, or robben....just cause your team understands team football and everyone pulls their weight doesn't mean an individual award can't go to a certain player on those teams....messi was argentina's best player no doubt, but more props could be given to their defense and goalie who managed clean sheets against belgium and the dutch. my first pick for this award was robben, muller, then messi or di maria

that isn't true, messi has single handedly carried argentinas attack. i dont think argentina scored 1 goal without messi assisting or scoring it tbh. aguero, higuain, palacio, lavezzi, all of them played weak imo. only di maria was playing well in attack.

mascherano was fantastic but again not as important or influencial. remove masch and argentinas defence would be much weaker but still there. remove messi and you have a non existant attack.
