Is Uncharted one of your favourite series too now?

Hope you like Dark Souls, though it can quite easily put people off. 50/50 chance you end up liking it.

I'm looking around for potential PS3 games I haven't played before myself.

Looking at the Devil May Cry HD collection.

BAH GAWD!!

Just played Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light and damn these games are atmospheric.

If you haven't heard of the games, they are basically set in post-apocalyptic Moscow after a nuclear war has wiped out most of humanity, and the survivors in Moscow were those who were able to make it underground to the metro system. For those who don't know, the real life metro systems in Russia were built deep underground so that if nuclear war ever did break out, people could run under there and survive, so the game setting is realistic.

It's a hard life for the survivors though, with mutated beasts running about and the rise in prominence of the Communist and Nazi factions. People have to scavenge for supplies and military grade bullets act as the currency due to the harsh environment, life really is shit.

The game can also get really scary at many points, and when I say scary I don't mean in a horror movie type of way, though those aspects are there, but in a very atmospheric, supernatural, "in your head" creepy sort of way. Most of the scares you will get from the game will be psychological instead of in your face type of scares, made worse by the fact that you travel by yourself most of the time. You'll be hearing and seeing shit that ain't there.

It doesn't help that your only source of light is the headlight you wear or Night visions goggles, you'll pretty much be walking around in the dark. Though sometimes, you'll enter areas where no electronics work, and you'll need to use a tiny lighter as your only source of light. The voices you hear will get louder then.

There's a really creepy mission in the first game Metro 2033, which I won't spoil, but by god, I made the mistake of playing the mission at 3am, and I "nope'd" out and went to bed before I even got half way through it. Some of the shit you will see in these games.

There are also times when you have to travel on the surface for a period of time, but you need to use a gasmask due to the radiation, and you have limited filters so you can only stay above ground so long before you die. Though if your not lazy and you spend time searching, you'll find lots of filters lying around on the surface and underground, so you will never have to worry about ever running out of air. I ended up having 2+ hours worth of air filters by the end.

The gameplay for the first game, Metro 2033, is very outdated, Mass Effect 1 levels of outdated, but with the Metro Redux, consisting of remasters of both Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light, coming out in August for PC, PS4 and XB1, they are fixing it and making the combat more like the second game, Metro Last Light, which is a god send. I'll probably buy the Redux and replay the games again, cause they are really that good.

Rating: 10/10, for both games.

Looking forward to the 3rd game!

Protip:Play the game in Russian with English subs, the English dub is awful and playing in Russian helps immerse you more.

You should man. I got it for £12 in a Amazon sale and left it to rot on my shelf for a year

I then bought Metro 2033 off of the Xbox Marketplace last week and I decided to finally play the games. The only regret I have is not having played the games sooner, whilst I was playing junk like Bioshock Infinite. Utterly brilliant games.

Get Metro 2033 if you can, it's only £12 on the Xbox marketplace, or you can just get is used off of Ebay or Amazon.

I've had Last Light free through PS+ for months now. Really no excuse for me not playing it.

Yea it definitely is. Can't wait for UC4 on PS4.

Was told the same for DS by a friend. Let's see if it's for me or not.

Nah, there's no pause function, the devs thought it would be challenging not to add a basic game design features. You need to exit to the main menu and when you load the game back up you'll be right where you stopped.

Utterly stupid design choice, the very definition of fake difficulty.

It's more to do with the fact that your game can be invaded at any time by other players. That's a big part of the game too, so no pause function makes sense.

Dark Soul doesn't hold your hand when you're playing it lol, you have to find it all by yourself.

One of the reason i've never touched that game, i just can't be arsed to spend time on a game that doesn't tell you what to do.

I said ONE of the reasons, other than that the outdated graphics also puts me off.

Outdated graphic lmao pls. The game still looks good. Even Demon's Souls still looks good.

How this looks good ? it's on par with Resident Evil 4's graphics.

Might give up on Dark Souls for now.

I don't mind the battle system or exploring, I just don't like how they over-complicate things in it.

I will definitely come back to it, but just saw that FFX/X-2 has a price drop of 50%. Downloading it as we speak

Ok so it's summer and there's not many games out there, can anyone recommend me some recently released good games ? preferably single players.

At the moment thinking of picking up South Park: The Stick of Truth, heard it provides some good laugh but i've never watched a single episode of South Park, do i need to know some backstory or it isn't needed ?
