It appears John Cena handing the World Heavyweight Title belt to Ric Flair on last week’s RAW was indeed the company phasing that title out.

WWE reportedly wants to retire the belt as a part of bringing in the new logo that officially begins on the post-SummerSlam RAW, as noted. John Cena, or whoever is champion, will still be referred to as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion but they will carry only one belt.

The original idea when they unified the titles late last year was to use just one belt but they decided out of nowhere to keep both.
