Yeh but it's not just against Barca we sat back. It's against every team who plays possession.

you need to give up that shit about possession MT, it's getting boring. We are not doing that, it's as simple as that. You cant keep complaining about something we never do as if someone promised you that we would because barca 2.0 and try to dominate the ball no matter what.

I have calmed.
Good game until the Neymar dive, proud of Real Madrid, we dominated them fools. I would like to retract all wishes of injury I showered upon various Barcelona players in chat, may their only sorrow be the nightmares they have trophyless at the end of the year.
We'll rape you in Copa.

You're not counting the areas where Rayo received possession nor the key moments in which possession was necessary for Rayo as looking purely at the number is not wise to judge the match.
Real Madrid aren't brimming with possession-based players as many of them would not respond half as well to what they do with Carlo's currently more dynamic system.
How do we manage to play possession against 80% of teams if we don't have the players for it? It was Ancelotti who said he would play possession, yet he abandons the philosophy against teams who play possession. Would it not be better to stick to one style, especially considering we aren't the best defensively?
To me it's starting to seem he's getting outplayed, rather than being dynamic.

I can understand the players on the end of a defeat have difficulty holding their tongue when questioned immediately after a match. I believe due to this, the governing bodies should show a little leniency.

At this point, I don't really mind how we win, since we're desperate to win trophies. However abandoning a set philosophy in certain matches doesn't really seem right.
In the Mourinho era, it was the same thing. Our lack of possession play in big games let us down.
It seems as if Ancelotti is getting outplayed against superior possession sides, rather than him intending for us to concede possession and him being dynamic.

Re: El Clasico: Real Madrid vs Barcelona discussion
Did Ancelotti ever mention that he would play 'possession' ? I do remember him saying Madrid would focus on retaining the ball high up the pitch, which is what you guys did before the red card.
Anyways, you need to get the whole possession crap out of your head Johan. No team actually plays a possession based style except for Bayern and Barca.
Only reason you have a lot of possession against smaller teams, is because they sit back and counter.
Carlo has never been that type of coach, in fact his Milan side were more known for their brilliant counter attacking rather than there ability to break down the opposition.

Even though Barca won i feel Madrid is the better team. The Alonso tackle in the box was plain stupid, and Ramos red card was another.
Good entertaining game.

He was slowly walking over him. You can only see the part where he actually steps on him though. Clearly intentional.

Re: El Clasico: Real Madrid vs Barcelona discussion
Carlo said he would take the get to barca in midfield and try to push the pace to our advantage. That's what he meant by control, but since people's understanding of control is by the statistic of possessions, you can expect some confusion.

He is being held on by Diego Lopez, while he is actually trying to stop the fight. And at no point is he looking at Pepe´s head.

What are the chances he didn't know he was there? what are the chances he couldn't easily avoid him?
Ive debated with you before about decisions like this and I already know your bias stops you from seeing sense. So, those were rhetorical questions I asked, I don't want a dumb debate about this

When you dominate and still lose, what it could mean?
Luck, possibly but perhaps its more to do with the brilliance of an exceptional talent and the failure of a manager or a mentor to steer his players towards victory.

Ancelotti:
Abiding by the San Siro pact, Ancelotti will not criticise Mourinho but he does say of his own task at Madrid: “The goal is to play football a little bit differently, because the culture of this club is to play” – he blows out his cheeks, searches for the right word – “spectacular football. The supporters here are exigent. They don’t like to see counter-attack. They like to see a team that has control of the game, with possession. We are trying to follow the history, the tradition of the club.”
“Our [play] isn’t excellent because we have changed the philosophy a little with respect to the system used last season – one in which the team played more on the counter attack.
“We have tried to restore a more possession-based style with the ball played along the ground. Barça have had the same philosophy for many years. Atlético’s is different but they too have spent a while playing with the same system.”
Why has Madrid played so badly? How do you want Madrid to play?
We changed some things, we are trying to play more possession. Use the two pivots, use ground passes, try to get the ball between the lines. All this involves a mechanism that has to be natural. The movement between two players is not there naturally, so we need time. The last few games were not as bad. Against Malaga, we played very well because we recovered the ball quickly, pressed high… things that we didn’t do in the first half against Barca. The strategy was to press high, when Valdés had to put the ball long, every time we win the ball in the air. The attitude of the team was not as good for that reason. In the first half, Barca had more possession, but in the second half it was different.
