Liverpool vs Swansea
Well the boring European midweek of football is over for me.
The journey has begun guys, fasten your seat belts and be ready to get amazed with the experience of getting into the position where we suffered to get last 5 seasons.
The last 1/3rd of the season had started with Fulham game and we won that 3-2 like champions do. The way, we showed the character, grit, strength, mentality with not only Fulham as opposition but wind and rain also tried to stop us and finally we outscored them, was one thing which you would like to see when it is an OFF day for the team. After the win against Fulham, we have to keep on winning those remaining 12 cup finals since we crashed out of both cups this season.
It will be interesting how BR approaches the game because we have already seen when teams try to play football at Anfield, they get slaughtered they way Everton and Arsenal got. I think I would play very similar.
Well last season, we won the same fixture as 5-0, we showed in that game how we had evolved under BR. But if we are able to pull it this time, it will be even more amazing since Swansea will play this time to get something out of this game. I think the itching memory of earlier fixture at Swansea which ended at 2-2 was very disappointing so we have to make sure that we get three points this time. The biggest plus point will be they will play against Napoli tomorrow and I expect few of the players to be tired. I expect Monk to fully try and get something out of that game too. But our dear Benitez will prove to be too strong for him.
So let's do it in style and keep the terror of the Anfield fortress as scary as it has been till now:

Game of Thrones

Alright, fully expecting a committed performance and nothing but a win as the acceptable result.
Johnson is back and I expect him to start instead of Cissokho. Flanagan to the left. Agger after getting game time at Fulham and in the FA Cup is also a shoe in for Kolo. Skrtel and Mignolet are obvious.
Also Henderson back in the starting line up after having rested his injured wrist for a good week. So Allen back to the bench. The rest of the team picks itself. I hope we play both Suarez/Sturridge interchanging in the middle as opposed only Sturridge occupying the center. Luis needs to touch the ball as many times as possible.
Really hoping Ibe and Teixeira both get some minutes after we are already comfortably up.
Would be nice to see Shelvey playing again. Needs to avoid doing what he did in the 2-2 though. Just a quite game from him would do.

Re: Liverpool vs Swansea
1) Can we stop saying "cup finals" please, every cup final win for us has come in extra time/penalties and we need to win in the 90 for the remainder of the games. lol
2) We won 5-0 last year because they had the league cup final the next week and rested players; they didn't turn up. Don't let last years result for you.
We should beat them. They've been meh this season, and have just sacked Laudrup which seems to disrupt harmony at the club (unjust sacking etc).
3) Glen Johnson to show everyone he's "on the decline" with a MOTM performance.

Re: Liverpool vs Swansea
-Daniel Sturridge is the first Liverpool player to score in seven successive PL appearances.
-Swans have won 2 and just lost 1 (3 draws) of their last 6 meetings in all competitions with Liverpool.
-BR was manager of Swansea City before moving to Liverpool in the summer of 2012. He won 43 of his 96 games as boss of the Welsh side. [44 out of 85 at Liverpool]
-Swansea (33 goals) have scored exactly half the amount of goals in the PL this season in comparison to Liverpool (66 goals).
-Just 25% of Swansea's passes have been in the attacking third of the pitch this season; a lower proportion than any other side.
-The Reds have made the most through balls in the PL this season with 44.
-Swansea City's Ben Davies has created the most goal scoring opportunities without having assisted a goal in the PL so far this season (27). [Downing would be proud ]
-Steven Gerrard has assisted seven goals from set piece situations in the PL this season; three more than any other player.
-Swans boss Garry Monk made 45 league appearances for Swansea during the 2 seasons that BR was manager of the club.
-Luis Suarez has fired in 55 shots on target in the PL this season - 20 more than any other player in the top flight.

Re: Liverpool vs Swansea
I can already see Red Albert's defence for Johnson if he doesn't play well in this game or for the rest of the season... He was RUSHED BACK FROM INJURY!
No, but seriously, I look forward to seeing him again as full-backs have lately been the position where room for improvement has been most obvious.
Swansea are playing Napoli tonight (in Wales), anyone going to be watching that? If I'm just on the computer then I'll try and stream it for sure, to see how Swansea plays, which players look good...
and obviously because the opposition is Benitez
Reina in goal
Shelvey to score on Reina, how funny would that feel

Any idea what their (Swansea) lineup will look like!!! They don't have a big squad and I wonder if they will risk key players in this game. They play us in three days and they are four points from relegation.

Re: Liverpool vs Swansea
----------Mignolet-----------
Flanagan-Skrtel-Agger-Cissoko
-----Gerrard--Henderson-----
Raheem----Coutinho---Suarez
----------Sturridge----------
With Johnson and Allen, the bench will have semblance of respectability.
Sturridge needs to drop back or move to sides to make room for Suarez. They used to combine like that in the first few games.

Agreed that SAS Need to Keep interchanging their positions, they both offer different things when playing as CF and we have to make sure that we utilise that. Relying on Studge alone backfired in Cup game

Re: Liverpool vs Swansea
Looking forward to this one. I've got a good feeling about this...Suarez and Sturridge have been just buzzing around the net without much luck of late and I think that eventually the floodgates open. This match is the perfect opportunity for that to happen and for them to build some confidence in the home stretch.

He's ready.
My "defence for Johnson" will come from GJ's form and consistency from now until the end of the season.
I was right about Gerrard earlier this season, Lucas looked like he was finding some of his best form before his injury, Sterling's stepped up, Skrtel's been our best defender this season, Luis continues to be Luis, Johnson will get there too.

I think it will not be such an easy game, Swansea have always played well against us, it will depend on what tactics BR uses in this game

If we play exactly like we played against Arsenal, we will rout them. I hope BR doesnt try to get take this one his ego and simply control the match without the ball

Re: Liverpool vs Swansea
We can play like we did against Aston Villa and we'll beat them.
Swansea are rubbish and just played a strong starting XI in the Europa.
iirc they've never won a PL game after playing in the Europa league, they simply lack the depth/fitness to play a game 3-4 days later. We won't drop points here.

I just spoke to Borini on my direct line, he said he will score a goal today for us to get us back in the hunt.

Nevermind that, I just got off the phone with Charlie Adam. Couldn't understand a word he said, but Crouchie shouted from the background "we're gonna f*** the sky blues up today!", so it's all looking pretty good.
