Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Arsenal made an enquiry into the availability of AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivio, according to the player's agent, but it would be "very difficult" for the Italy international to leave San Siro.
The Gunners were in the market for midfield cover during the January transfer window, with Kim Kallstrom drafted in from Spartak Moscow after Aaron Ramsey's recovery stalled – though the Swede has yet to play for the north Londoners due to a back injury.
One player that caught Arsene Wenger's eye was Montolivo, says the Italian's representative Giovanni Branchini – though he insists the 29-year-old, also subject to interest from Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, is keen to stay at Milan.
"Milan have had a difficult season so far and I think I can say that Riccardo Montolivo has been one of the brightest notes," Branchini told Calciomercato.
"He became a fixture of the Rossoneri and was even given the captain's armband as proof. He is very happy with the club to which he belongs, and the club and fans are very satisfied with him.
"An extension? He has a contract until June 2016, so it is not a priority to talk about an extension at this time. That's a discussion we'll have, I think, next year.
"Has there been interest from other clubs? There have been tentative enquiries from Atletico Madrid, [Dortmund boss Jurgen] Klopp and Arsenal, to name a few.
"All were trying to ascertain whether the 'path' to Montolivo was feasible. At the moment, however, I feel it would be very difficult for the player to leave Milan, precisely because of what I said before."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Rumours that Real Madrid will bid to sign Paul Pogba continue to gather pace, with Marca suggesting Zinedine Zidane will be personally involved.
The Juventus youngster has been consistently linked with a switch away from Turin, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Real Madrid all said to be interested.
And the Madrid-based paper has reported this morning that Los Blancos’ former midfielder and current assistant will try and persuade his countryman to choose Santiago Bernabeu as his next destination.
Zidane has been persistently going to the board at Real Madrid, asking them to stump up the cash for the 20-year-old, such is the belief in his talent.
And President Florentino Perez is apparently happy to back Zizou’s judgement, after he did the same for Raphael Varane.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
It has been reported that Real Madrid have asked to meet Juventus to discuss negotiations for midfielder Paul Pogba.
El Confidencial claim that Los Blancos have requested to meet with the Italian side’s hierarchy to enquire about the France international.
The former Manchester United youngster has been heavily linked with a switch away from Turin this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit and his previous employers all supposedly keen.
Marca claimed over the weekend that Madrid assistant Zinedine Zidane had set his sights of signing Pogba for the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.
And El Confidencial believe that the wheels have been put in motion to start that process, by asking members of the Juve board to meet.
Whether they will accept that proposal however, is another matter.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Samuel Eto'o has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet and has hinted he may extend his stay at Chelsea beyond this season.
"I am happy here," he is quoted as saying in The Evening Standard. "My age is not important.
"I work the same as Oscar or Eden Hazard. I have more experience and this is good for the team.
"It is an amazing thing (to score 300 club goals) but I have maybe two or three years more (in my career). I think I am going to score more goals."
Eto'o signed a one-year contract at Chelsea in August having left Anzhi Makhachkala, and has been linked with a move to the United States and former club Real Mallorca if he departs England.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Edin Dzeko and Fernando Torres are unlikely to sign for Inter due to financial reasons, says club director Piero Ausilio.
Only one Nerazzurri player - Argentine Rodrigo Palacio - has scored more than five goals in Serie A this term as Walter Mazzarri's side sit fifth in the table.
New Inter owner Erick Thohir is remaining coy on transfer targets despite being expected to splash the cash in the close-season, and moves for Manchester City's Dzeko or Chelsea forward Torres appear unlikely, despite reports linking the club with both.
When asked by La Gazzetta dello Sport if bids for the likes of Dzeko, Torres, Javier Hernandez and Mario Mandzukic were dreams or aims, Ausilio said: "People who earn €5-6 million a year for us are over budget.
"And under normal circumstances we cannot take them. And I do not think it is so easy getting these players on loan."
Ausilio confirmed a frontman was high on Inter's priority list ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, though, adding: "We need a striker who has a lot of goals.
"There have been a number of absences between Diego Milito and Mauro Icardi this season."
Ausilio also stated there was a "mutual willingness" to extend midfielder Fredy Guarin's contract at the club.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Alex Song has suggested he will move to a Premier League club when his time at Barcelona comes to an end.
"If I leave Barcelona it will be to return to the Premier League," the midfielder told beIN Sport.
"I will return to England one day, that's for sure."
Song also sang the praises of Arsenal and Gunners manager, Arsene Wenger, but indicated a switch to "the best side in the world" was too good to turn down.
Song added: "He [Wenger] was like a father to me. He spoke a lot with me when I arrived to Arsenal.
"I wanted to renew my contract with Arsenal but in that case I would have regretted not joining Barcelona. Barcelona are the best side in the world."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Sky Sports understands Arsenal have agreed a new deal with highly-rated youngster Gedion Zelalem.
The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents to emerge at Arsenal in recent years and the club have moved to tie him down to a professional deal.
Zelalem, who made his debut in the FA Cup against Coventry earlier this season, is seen as a star of the future by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
The skilful playmaker has been named on the bench for three Premier League games this season and has been a star performer in the Under-21 Premier League and FA Youth Cup this term.
Arsenal were keen to reward the German-born midfielder for his progress with a new deal and he is expected to be fast-tracked into the senior squad over the next year.
