Mount Vesuvius remains dormant on the foot of Napoli, Global Dimming interferes with the hydrological cycle, and Fat Wayne continues taking Manchester United for a ride in a salary closure not worth what he produces.

I swear Roo gets 50k a week extre every few months, United being bullied here. No way I'd pay 300K a *bleep* week to a player who moans as much as he does.

Stoke City are closing in on a surprise move for Cardiff City forward Peter Odemwingie, according to Sky Sports.
Odemwingie has only been at Cardiff for half a season having made the move from West Brom in the summer.

Except that none of that "top talent" was viable... which essentially means none of those players were actually available to us. NONE of those players were/are "right under our noses" as they're not realistic targets for one reason or another.
That's not to say there AREN'T potential targets that are realistic and viable options that we could move for (i.e. are "available") but your examples are frankly ridiculous and ill-chosen which undermine any points you try to make. Your (and others') propensity for knee-jerk and or hyperbole make it impossible to really engage in discussion or take your points seriously as you always tend toward the extreme and unrealistic when you'd be better served focusing on the viable to prove your point. It's less flashy (and therefore less appealing for the doom-sayers) but it actually has substance. Hence why I've stopped visiting the LFC section... it's all shouting and flash and no real depth anymore.
Fernando is/has been available and would readily improve our midfield options, especially with the current injuries. Fullbacks were/are around and just about any signing in that area (bar another PFK) would make sense. Hell, the Salah deal was one people were calling for back in October/November/December but suddenly he's not considered a good enough target... I'm sure once Chelsea confirm their £15-17m signing of him (it was very much more than the £11m some are somehow reporting) people will be back to calling him the missing piece and complaining about how we missed out. It's all just a bit pantomime and melodramatic at this point.

Red, the Salah deal is most probably 11-12m pounds + bonuses which could bring it to 16m pounds. Hopefully those bonuses are based on appearances or in another related way based on the player's performance.

No, the LFC offer was 11m plus bonuses taking it to 15m. Chelsea's offer (which beat ours) was 15 to 16m straight up.El Chelsea Fuerte wrote:Red, the Salah deal is most probably 11-12m pounds + bonuses which could bring it to 16m pounds. This will have to be a conflict of sources I guess...I was just reporting from this BBC article. Although they say nothing about bonuses!

BBC are almost always correct when reporting transfer figures, or there abouts, as too The Guardian.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
BBC are accurate when they pull from club's sites or other reliable sources. Generally, though, they're simply using information gleaned from other reliable reports. The Telegraph, The Guardian, and local papers tends to be their main sources. In this case, their report came out quickly and they quoted an £11-12m figure from reports that has since been revised upwards.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
The BBC are accurate because they have first hand information in the same way other media outlets do.
The Guardian are reporting around £12m reaching upto £16m with add ons. I think you need to accept this.

Like a 5 year old who's decided he's figured something important out.
I don't do well with kids, so we'll leave it here.
But I just did a quick search and the articles from yesterday from both the Guardian and Telegraph are each quoting that 10-12m pound figure. Just a link from the source you're reading would be nice.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
You know, the numbers can easily be messed up as Momo is from Basel where they use CHF, in the UK you have GBP while many other parts of Europe use the Euro. Each of them has a certain exchange rate, and I have the suspicion that the media are not always sure about which number is correct for which currency ^^

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
You initially claimed Chelsea were paying £15-£17m, then in your next post later changed it to £15m-£16m straight up.
Every respectable media outlet has reported an initial fee of between £11m-£12m with the fee rising to a possible £15m-£16m dependent on varying factors.
Sky Sports, BBC, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Independent all support this.
I've yet to see any article supporting the fees you claim.

A general question for everyone here: How much e-penis do you get for successfully predicting a transfer fee difference of 2-3m before it happens?

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
David Moyes was escorted into Borussia Monchengladbach's stadium by Toni Kroos' agent on Friday night after being alerted to a contract stand-off between the Germany midfielder and his Bayern Munich bosses.
Bayern striker Mario Mandzukic and Moenchengladbach midfielder Patrick Herrmann were believed to be the two main points of interest for the Manchester United manager when he booked his seat at Borussia Park for last night Bundesliga fixture, which the visitors won 2-0.
But while both are under review at Old Trafford, Kroos has dramatically emerged as a viable target after his representative Sascha Breese, from the Sports Total agency, met Moyes and coaches Phil Neville and Steve Round and sat with them at the game.

We never put a bid in according to the BBC.
Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 23 Jan
#LFC wanted to sign Salah in Jan but never made an official bid and failed to agree a fee with Basel. Good signing for #CFC

While McAgger's example or rationale were incorrect, who should consider why his judgement is being clouded. I doubt if he would have been so paranoid if it wasn't so late in transfer window. After FIVE long years (which seems like an eternity for LFC fans) we have a chance of making CL (which in turn has serious positive consequences for our long-term future) and without certain addition to the squad this prospect is really up in the air.
You made a correct analysis regarding areas (WB & DM) needing immediate strengthening. While I myself isn't overly comfortable with people (specially fellow Kopiates) making knee-jerk reactions or abysmal judgements; I have, for some time now, have accepted the fact that people gather here not just to learn, share, analyze but also to vent some steam.
As you have mentioned/indicated, we no longer need players to improve the starting XI but simply to assemble a decent squad. What puzzles me is while quality players (Matic/Mata, not them, their quality) would be hard to come by in mid-season window, squad players would have been more readily available.

Man U getting Kroos
The way people go on about here, you'd have to think they just signed Messi or something.Well newsflash, you just overpaid for an unused bench player(even though he is quality),doesnt mean you can get anybody just like that.
