Man U getting Kroos
The way people go on about here, you'd have to think they just signed Messi or something.Well newsflash, you just overpaid for an unused bench player(even though he is quality),doesnt mean you can get anybody just like that.

iftikhar wrote:RedOranje wrote:McAgger wrote:All I'm saying is how the hell can Rodgers sit there and tell us that there no players available that would improve our team when top talent is being shipped left and right under our noses
Except that none of that "top talent" was viable... which essentially means none of those players were actually available to us. NONE of those players were/are "right under our noses" as they're not realistic targets for one reason or another.
That's not to say there AREN'T potential targets that are realistic and viable options that we could move for (i.e. are "available") but your examples are frankly ridiculous and ill-chosen which undermine any points you try to make. Your (and others') propensity for knee-jerk and or hyperbole make it impossible to really engage in discussion or take your points seriously as you always tend toward the extreme and unrealistic when you'd be better served focusing on the viable to prove your point. It's less flashy (and therefore less appealing for the doom-sayers) but it actually has substance. Hence why I've stopped visiting the LFC section... it's all shouting and flash and no real depth anymore.
Fernando is/has been available and would readily improve our midfield options, especially with the current injuries. Fullbacks were/are around and just about any signing in that area (bar another PFK) would make sense. Hell, the Salah deal was one people were calling for back in October/November/December but suddenly he's not considered a good enough target... I'm sure once Chelsea confirm their £15-17m signing of him (it was very much more than the £11m some are somehow reporting) people will be back to calling him the missing piece and complaining about how we missed out. It's all just a bit pantomime and melodramatic at this point.
While McAgger's example or rationale were incorrect, who should consider why his judgement is being clouded. I doubt if he would have been so paranoid if it wasn't so late in transfer window. After FIVE long years (which seems like an eternity for LFC fans) we have a chance of making CL (which in turn has serious positive consequences for our long-term future) and without certain addition to the squad this prospect is really up in the air.
You made a correct analysis regarding areas (WB & DM) needing immediate strengthening. While I myself isn't overly comfortable with people (specially fellow Kopiates) making knee-jerk reactions or abysmal judgements; I have, for some time now, have accepted the fact that people gather here not just to learn, share, analyze but also to vent some steam.
As you have mentioned/indicated, we no longer need players to improve the starting XI but simply to assemble a decent squad. What puzzles me is while quality players (Matic/Mata, not them, their quality) would be hard to come by in mid-season window, squad players would have been more readily available.
I don't think we need to sign any full backs. We're quite stacked there, to be honest. Unfortunately our best two full backs are injured (in Enrique/GJ) and Cissokho hasn't been good enough but can do a job. He's not the best, but he's not the worst either. People have compared him to PFK, which is just wrong. Flanagan is coming back, Kelly is quite injury prone, but you have to remember we get Wisdom back at the end of the season (asked in the Liverpool section, but can he be recalled right now as we do need him?) so there's no real point in wasting time and money to get another full back in. Especially when we have good youth there too in Robinson and McLaughlin who are also both on loan. I think we're just going to have march on regarding full backs right now, and not make it a priority.
We do on the other hand require cover for Lucas. We've needed cover for Lucas for 2 seasons now. Yet this committee still hasn't seen it as a problem. We won't be making top 4 this season if we don't sign cover for him, especially if he's out for months. I've stated it before, SAS may be our best players in the team, but the "controller" is the most important role in Rodgers' team. Not one person bar Lucas (including Gerrard) can play that role. We desperately need to sign someone. We've been linked to Nigel De Jong by the Independent (who's not the best source, but sometimes get it right), and I'd take him in a heart beat. Unfortunately, AC Milan fans on this section have stated it'd be impossible to get him.
Disagree with the part in red, too. We need a number 10 / attacking midfielder. Henderson can play a role there, but it's clear he's a lot better as the central midfielder / box to box as he doesn't really have an end product.

This clearly wouldnt have been possible without that huge sponsorship they signed.Nevermind its the useless L'Equipe reporting so i'll just choose to ignore it.

So Flanagan & Cissoko are enough to ensure T4????

"Full backs" aren't key positions.
They're (Flanno/Cissokho) are simply put, back ups because our two senior players are out injured. They'll do a role just fine.
It's the controller / DM role we need to sign to ensure T4.

Burak Yilmaz reignited links with Lazio after reportedly stating he wanted to “leave Galatasaray and go to Europe.”
The striker had been on the verge of completing a transfer to the Biancocelesti over the summer, but it sensationally collapsed at the last minute.
President Claudio Lotito accused his agent of causing the breakdown in negotiations by changing his demands related to bonuses and transfer fees.
Burak Yilmaz could be on his way to Lazio after all, as he was quoted in newspaper Milliyet announcing his departure from Turkey.
“I am tired of the way opposition fans treat me in Turkey. I want to go to Europe now.”
