Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
I know it was an accident but has Debuchy ever been out as long as he has been out with us?
We cant never keep a player healthy, no freaking luck..

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
tbf, both of Debuchy's injuries were accidents on the field during games. Not the typical 'muscualr injuries' or 'setbacks' - the ones that we really must be addressing.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Arteta struggling with ankle and calf problems; has had setback on an ankle problem. No timeframe on when he'll be back. Could be out for many more weeks.
Debuchy likely to need surgery, which will keep him out for three months.
Welbeck a doubt for City, but should be fit again for Brighton.

This is not even a joke anymore. Ozil, ramsey and Koscielny returns. 3 more out.
I really hope we play Bellerin at RB.

Arteta has had surgery and will be out for a further three months:

Could have well played his last game for us already.

Debuchy surgery confirmed, misses another 3 months of the season
Ridiculous thing is, Arnautobitch didn't and won't get punished for his blatant push that caused the injury

Meh that push wasn't really that malicious, just a little hand on body contact. It was just a freak fall, because he was coming in at high speed, and the only thing the hand on body really did was put him off his balance a bit, making a clean landing harder.

Any contact at that speed wasn't going to go down well. Arnoldo knew what he was doing and should have had action take against him. Total BS.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Welbeck still "two weeks away", Gibbs to have a test but "should be back in the squad", Wilshere ahead of schedule and on course to be back by the end of Feb.

Bellerin (ankle) and Chamberlain (inflamation of groin) to have fitness tests ahead of Brighton game. Bellerin "should be available" but there are doubts over Chamberlain.
Welbeck will miss the game. Wenger: "Danny is still out. I think he will need two more games to be back again. He’s not in full training yet."
Serge Gnabry (remember him?) is back in training but needs match fitness.
Krystian Beilik "won't be available for three weeks" as he needs to regain full fitness after the winter break in Poland.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
How/when exactly did Welbz get injured though?!
Gnabry has been out for what - 10 months with knee issues now?
I wonder why youngsters who have a good season almost always end up getting a long terms injury in their second year, especially when you are looking forward to them kicking on ffs

Also before people pounce on Bielik being unavailable: He's not injured - he just isn't match fit.

Lad could do with a breather anyway. Looks like this is the only way he's going to agree to being kept out of the game.
As long as we ensure his safety for the next 5 months......
You know, when one returns, another has to go. Now that Theo and Özil are back...

In other news, Wenger described Welbeck as being "really, really, really, really close"... but not close enough for Sunday, apparently.
Gabriel will be in the squad. Rest of the squad will be the same as the Brighton game.

If he could get goals like Alexis he would matter, since he does not get goals, does it matter?

TIm Stillman wrote:Even the very respectable football365 website fell into this trap this week, with this piece suggesting that Danny Welbeck had become something of a forgotten man. Again, one must appreciate the context of the situation before drawing such conclusions. It is easy to formulate this kind of conclusion when a team is playing well. The most impressive football I have seen Arsenal play under Wenger occurred at the outset of the 2002-03 season. Prior to Wayne Rooney’s infamous last gasp winner at Goodison.
During that period, Arsenal were shorn of Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg through injury, whilst Tony Adams and Lee Dixon had retired that summer. Nobody would seriously suggest that shedding that kind of weight made Arsenal better in the long term. But momentum counts for a lot. In the spring of 2002, Arsenal embarked on a run of ten consecutive wins which carried them to the league title. Igors Stepanovs played five of those games in central defence. On current form, Arsenal have not missed Welbeck, that much is true. However, I dare say his absence would have been felt a great deal had it occurred in October or November. Context is important.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Agree with the article. One thing about Dannyboy though.
He has quite a role in our pressing game. Playing a lone striker in our formation, it's essential that he covers a lot of ground upfront and harasses opposition CBs. Playing with Giroud sometimes feels like our pressing suffers and we get pegged back a bit more than with Welbz.
You could argue that Giroud has superior link-up play, thus relieving us under pressure when we hoof it up when things go "Arsenaly" during our defending, but that's the beauty of it.
We have options, are way more tactically flexible than a couple of seasons ago and most of our players are currently playing with confidence, up to standard and ability.
Long may this continue

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
From Wenger's press conference this morning:
He won't be taking any risks with Alexis.
Chamberlain has gone from needing a fitness test last week to being out of the Villa game and possibly being short for Spurs.
Welbeck has a chance for Sunday and will definitely be back for Spurs.
Wilshere is a week ahead of schedule and is 10 days away from training again.
Gabriel is ready to play.
So I guess the team will be:
Ospina; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Coquelin; Walcott, Cazorla, Ramsey, Rosicky; Giroud
Though I suppose Chambers and Monreal could easily play instead of Bellerin/Gibbs.
