Thunder looking good. Westbrook already back and playing well. Only a matter of time before Adams takes Perks starting spot. He's giving them really good minutes and was out there with the starters at the end of the 1st half.

Lamb with a nice game 4-7, 3-5 from 3. Jackson/Lamb combined are averaging 23+ points(10.7 & 12.6). Jackson/Martin averaged just under 20 last year for comparison.

Yeah, averaging 23/14 on 60% with 3 blocks p/g and unmatchable defense isn't Top 2 status.

Dwight anchored teams were regularly Top 3 in defensive rating for years despite having poor to mediocre players like Jameer, Redick, Hedo, Rashard Lewis getting heavy minutes but apparently he's overrated on that end.

Can't wait till he proves everyone wrong like LeGOAT did.

lf the knicks are under or near 500 by the trading deadline we seriously need to trade Carmelo.

lf we have another bad season/early playoff exit, lts too big of a risk to see lf he stays or not after all we traded for him. And plus, whats the point. lf we aren't winning with him now then when are we ever going to? When he's 33? seems pointless.

I kind of agree.

Too many teams been burnt holding onto players and getting nothing return.

I dont know why the Lakers didnt just trade Howard, it seemed so clear he wasnt coming back.

Its ok that they didn't trade howard because all they gave up for him was Andrew BYnum, who didn't even play a single game for the team that they traded him to. They felt they had a reasonable chance of keeping him (has anyone turned down the lakers like that before?)

I've been on some knicks forums and people say Im crazy but we need to be smart about this. We can't trust the fact that he will resign... Especially after the whole "I can't wait to test free agency" BS he was spewing. Anything he says about his commitment after that doesn't matter. The fact that he felt that there was enough doubt in his future with the team to say that even once says all we should need to hear.

The only reason CP3, and Dwill stayed at the clippers and nets, is because a) they payed them more than anyone else could b) They were building rosters and added pieces that made the teams future look promising enough to warrant staying.

We cannot offer that this offseason. We have no cap space this year, so we won't be able to add anyone. If the current roster isn't working, it won't work a year later. Melo isn't going to throw, yet another season of his career waiting for us to build a contending team, when he could go to one right then and there at the end of the season.

They said itll be a downgrade trading him for some of the packages I suggested, (something like the Rockets for Asik, Parsons + picks) but having some good young players and picks will be much better than being left with nothing. People need to wake up and look at the real possibility of him leaving. I don't know why everyone is making it seem like its a guarentee he's going to resign. We have to be smart and access the situation during trade deadline time. We gave up far too many players and picks to loose him and have nothing to show for it.

With the lakers, they looked poor the whole season, didn't play well with Dwight, were out in the first round with dwight. So dwight left. Why would carmelo be any different. Because we have a lot of cap space when he's gonna be 31? He has to waste year 30 on a team that is a year older and was a trainwreck the season before? Doesn't add up. He will leave if we disappoint this season. It doesn't make any sense for him not to. The only reason he would stay is if all he cares about is money. And we will have to give him ever single cent that we can to convince him. We aren't going to get away with giving him any less than the full cap killing 130 million that we can in order to make staying in a bad looking situation worth while. Nobody wants to give him that, and no sane team with ambitions of actually winning something should.

Sorry to sound harsh, but as a New Yorker I have no faith in the Knicks winning a ring anytime soon. I agree that we they might as well move Melo now.

They were silly to assume Howard was gonna sign. They had and are committed to D'Antoni, Kobe at no point really voched for Howard (in the same way he did for Pau for example) and Howard clearly wasnt enjoying himself in LA.

They should of shipped him out and let it be someone elses problem. Nearly any team in the league would take the chance on Howard staying and be willing to hand the Lakers over some good pieces in return.

But yes, unless you can somehow add pieces to that current NY roster...they almost have to consider it.

I think Melo wants to stay, but he is doing the common sense thing in seeing what offers are out there for him before staying.

So the Knicks to me have to make a decision on if they honestly and truly believe what they can offer is more than what other teams can. They have to be real with themselves and if they cant offer him an overall package (location, money, team-mates, etc) better than someone else...better do it before your stuck with nothing.

The reason we didn't trade Howard, is probably because we are too proud/arrongant, and believe that anyone would chose the Lakers. Because I haven't ever heard of a big star declining resigning a max contract with the Lakers. Obviously would have preferred trading him for young pieces or some draft picks, since we are in desperate need of fresh legs and young talent.

I think there were a few factors in the Dwight/LA saga. I think we all knew Kobe wasn't going to back down when it came to how he "ran" his team. I knew Dwight wasn't going to stick around and play second fiddle to Kobe. That was never going to work out and I honestly think the Lakers need to begin to plan for the post Kobe era.

Melo should take a paycut and take his talents to South Beach..
