Ter Stegen Next Barca GK?

I doubt we would sign him in Winter.

It could make sense, it gives him half a season with no pressure and he can get used to the club and the language before stepping in the starting role next season.

But I just doubt it.

There is always the possibility to loan him back for half a season, but that wouldn't make much sense for Barca lol

Well, on the plus side, I stumbled over some other rumour that BMG might be inclined to replace an outgoing Marc-André ter Stegen with Yann Sommer ^^

So what if Chelsea signed Courtois 9m? ter Stegen is already known for a young talented goalkeeper and has proved his quality for 2-3 seasons unlike Courtois back at the time.

Good point about the contract situation but Courtois was already one of the best young GKs in the world before Chelsea bought him. He has improved since then, no doubt, but he was already a known name. Obviously not as known as he is right now, but then again most football have never heard the name "ter Stegen." I can bet a number of people viewing this thread had no idea who he is before they did a quick google search or something.

What I'm saying is, its not about popularity. Talent speaks for itself and the talent was already there for Courtois if you knew him then.

Lots of reports suggest that we're going to buy BOTH Reina+Ter Stegan.

I don't no why some don't rate Reina, he's World Class.

I would be satisfied with Reina + Masip for next season!

obviously he is good enough to stand in goal for barca, i just don't know if he can pull himself out of the shit when he has a bad spell and the media torments him. unlike public opinion, i don't see him having that "kahn"-personality (yet)...

In his first year he was easily the best keeper in the Bundesliga. One man of the match performance after the other. Don't know how he would do at Barca tbh.

Sorry mate, if that's the only thing he's still "top" at then it doesn't count for anything. Most of the best GKs in football history are average penalty savers. Doesn't matter because you hardly get to save penalties. There's more to goalkeeping than that.

Pepe Reina is only really being bought (if he is bought) as a short term starter to let the young German adapt, and long term bench warmer, like Pinto who should retire this upcoming season or be sold.

I've only seen a bit a MaTS since we've been linked to him but I was was watching this and it makes me think twice....

Lol no, Valdes is unreal thia season. I believe if Barca fans have a choice, they would want Valdes stay in a heart beat and wouldnt want to trade him with anyone.

I can't speak about the bundesliga since I only watch Dortmund and Bayern, but Valdes is the most in form keeper in Spain right now, and judging from the Serie A and EPL matches that I watch, is playing better than any keepers there as well.

Okay, judging from the last 3 or 4 seasons.
This season Valdes has decent numbers, I won't pretend to have seen him more than 3 times this season, I just used to be impressed at his ineptitude, considering he's won a couple UCL titles.

All the power to him if he's finally become good. Maybe make him an offer he can't refuse?
