Ter Stegen Next Barca GK?

Okay, judging from the last 3 or 4 seasons.
This season Valdes has decent numbers, I won't pretend to have seen him more than 3 times this season, I just used to be impressed at his ineptitude, considering he's won a couple UCL titles.

All the power to him if he's finally become good. Maybe make him an offer he can't refuse?

And by people I mean Viva St Pauli and all of those stucked in 2003 when Valdes really was an average GK.

No I mean until 2004. Since then he has been a great GK with up and downs of forms like all GK and a couple of seasons, when he was the best IMO.

Since 2009 he has been very good, except in 2012-13. But out of the last 5 years he has been very good for 4, and right now he is playing the best of his career.

We can agree with "very good," but its actually ridiculous and just pure fanboy stuff to say he has been the most in form GK in the last 5 years apart from last season. I doubt even Barca fans actually really believe that.

No one is saying he was the best for the past 5 years. Some are saying he is the best at this particular point in time.

Awwww come on, I don't want to sound like I purposely shit all over Valdes, but I watch Bundesliga every week, Valdes wasn't "very good" for the past 5 years, he's what passes for "decent" in these parts, with last season being "horrible", and this season being "very good", to "great" (apparently, I've seen him be "very good 3 times, and his stats are great, this season).

Anyway, I really don't want to sound like I'm picking on the poor guy. Let's just rephrase my point to:
I think ter Stegen has a higher ceiling as a GK in the long run than Valdes ever had, and even his occasional brain fart probably makes him a more reliable keeper. It'd be a good signing.
On the other hand, now that Valdes has discovered the form of his life, they should probably still offer him an improved contract.

Improved contract wont do anything, he wants a new challenge and probably some respect too. Gains both by leaving because who knows, a couple people might watch him this season and see he is doing very well and actually fight over him.

VV played on a team that holds a lot of possession and he barely sees a shot in many games it was bound to throw him off a lot more when actually tested. Consistency is need by GK, but when you barely face the heat your bound to screw up more. The last 1-2 season have been bad for VV, but now he's use to facing the heat due to our poor back line and now is much more comfortable at stopping shots and is hardly stepping a foot wrong.

if anything the mass possession has inflated his stats the past 5 years not made him look worse or thown him off
