anyway benzema is a tier 1 striker imo, i know most of gl can't rate players to save their lives, cause media and trends decides for them, i bet money if we cut benz and paste suarez in the clasico, the wanking would've been legendary, i have seen it enough time to make that a fact.

benzema on form filled with confidence is just as good as suarez minus the dribbling.

so now you're including previous years. That's convenient. Let's just talk about this season, which is what everyone is talking about.

Against the current top 4.... 0 goals in 6 games

Spurs and Everton.... he has 4 goals in 3 games

He's scored 18 of his EPL goals against Sunderland, West Brom, Fulham, Norwich, West Ham and Cardiff, who are 6 of the bottom 8 teams in the league.

8 of his 28 goals have happened since the turn of the CY with 3 of them coming against Cardiff.

I'm not saying Suarez isn't a great striker or that he doesn't contribute anything other than goals... because he does both. But he's not much of scorer this year against the top sides or even the top half of the table when you dig in a little bit.

I personally feel that Suarez was better last season than this one... but maybe that's just me.

i don't think scoring against the " top " teams is mandatory to validate a good season, it's anecdotal imo.

I think it separates the elite from the very good... that's my point. When you play top teams or CL, you're playing against the best players, best defenders, best schemes, etc. And there's added pressure. If you're going to be WC, that's when you show it.

That said, i want to emphasize that it's not that Suarez hasn't contributed this year in those games... he has. But his scoring hasn't been there.

If Suarez 2014 is not a WC striker then there are even 5 WC strikers out there.

i don't think there's a pre-determined number to it. Ibra is one for sure. Falcao too before he got injured (he's clutch in big games). RVP and Rooney were... but not this year for various reason. Aguero, Suarez, Cavani, Lewandowski and Benzema are right on the verge of becoming one. Each has their own issues. Since this is a Benz thread... i'll tell you what's missing for him: He's been outstanding since January. Better than CR7 and Bale both in the last 3 months imo. If he can sustain this for a full year and perform in most of the top games, then he's achieved WC status.

agreed but my real point was gl obvious bias towards certain players some earned like cr and messi, and others is just strictly hype, suarez for example great player maybe WC, yet due to the hype of playing in the epl he is rated a lot higher than he should be(ibra level/tier 1), like a lot of players who played in that league imo.

if costa was scoring at the same rate like he is now but in the epl he would be rated a lot higher also. lets not forget about that scrub balotelli does bleep all game/season scores a stunner, cue BS about his talent blah blah WC blah blah just BS all due to hype.

its not really about that, its arguments about suarez(kun,cavani,higuain etc) is way better than him, or on another level based off nothing, their conversion rate, passing,vision and creativity are debatable when both are playing at a high level, i will give suarez dribbling and trickery cause he is better at it and that not benzema job its cr and bale, but i have seen him fake out a couple teams when he feels like it.
