Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Every year for the footy banquet for our high school footy team my dad and I make a slideshow with all the pictures of the year with music and some video included as well. Anybody have some music to suggest for such a thing?

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Sometimes it does statistically CB depending on the school. Some schools have a higher acceptance rate for early action
Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Yes, early action does give you a better chance of getting into the college of your choice because it benefits both the applicant and the college. It is essentially the same thing as a college athlete declaring for college, except you are boosting the schools targeted characteristics such as GPA, SAT/ACT score, and Honor Society membership.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Had/having a busy weekend anyway so I'm not particularly upset about it, but international breaks do suck. Then again, it allows me to get a lot of sleep on my weekends. It has its ups but on the whole I often find myself pretty lost with all the extra time I have

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Referee was insane, we got something like 8 yellow cards and 2 red cards. At 3-1 up with 9 men, we still managed to prevent Perth from having a shot on goal. I'm going to the game this Friday v Victory, but it will be on SBS for you interstate people to enjoy.Kick wrote:Enjoy the match? Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
I wouldn't go as far to say they were Barca-like. However, it is a huge and immediate improvement from the non-style we had before. Aimless long balls have been replaced by more ground passing and build-up play. There was good use of width, and crosses were accurate for the most part. Defence was solid, apart from the goal, which was really one of the only occasions in the game where we lost concentration. All the new signings were very impressive and Gombau has certainly worked together with the existing players, using them to the best of their capabilities.Kick wrote:I heard, how were Adelaide? Having also watched the Melbourne derby, I can safely say that we are a better team than Victory (and Heart) and we should win. Although, those red cards are worrying. This will be an early test of our squad depth.
One feature of Gombau's game I can describe to you in a bit more detail is the movement in his 4-3-3 --> 5-2-3 --> 3-4-3 transition:
1.
Galekovic
Bowles - McKain - Boogaard - Zullo
Carrusca - Isaias - Lustica
Ferreira - Jeronimo - Cirio

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
That's good to hear, While I don't care about the A-league all that much, it would be nice to have a local team playing proper Football and not hoofball that Adelaide have produced the last few seasons. I'll certainly go to a few more matches if they keep it up.Forza wrote:I wouldn't go as far to say they were Barca-like. Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
After our high school season is done, all the coaches in the area get together and look at the results of the season for each team and determine seeding for what are regionals-- named such that the teams you play are in your region, generally within an hour and a half. Every team gets to play a regional semifinal, and then if you win, a regional final. If you win that you move on to sectionals where I believe you play 2 more games with teams from a wider area than regionals. If you win those, you go to the State tournament and play against the best teams in the state.
My high school's footy program has been around for 16 years I think...a very short time. It gets little recognition, and has always been eclipsed by football (American) and basketball. Today though my team did something that hasn't been done for 8 years- we won our regional semifinal. We're one of the worse teams typically in our conference (league) and get low seedings. We don't suck...and the last two years we did well, having winning seasons. This year we were seeded 6 out of 8 and had to play the 3 seed. We beat our opponent 2-1, the first was a freekick I took the the goalkeeper fumbled and a team mate. The second was with 2 minutes left tied 1-1 and a team mate passed it to me at about the 6 yard box and I scored. We're one of the only teams in our footy programs history to do this.
It's a very small achievement when you look at the grand scope of things, but it's a great achievement for us.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
CB good work
Over here we have two tournaments post-season. FCIAC's and State's.
FCIAC'S are basically the 8 best teams in our county going against each other. ATM we are in 5th or 6th I believe so unfortunately if we don't finish 4th then we will have all away games. We just lost 3-0 last night. They scored 2 goals in the first 5 minutes
Then there is State's. This includes a larger amount of teams which I believe is around 20-30 teams. We are still in the upper levels in state ranking so we are going to have some home games. The semi finals and finals are played in a neutral stadium.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
A friend told me that my team is one of the like 4 teams in the state through all 3 divisions to upset their seed.
