I know, but what about Steaua and CSKA?

Well, Basel have a good record against Eastern European teams recently (don't mention Cluj, though )

@rwo I won't mention CFR Cluj . Statistically speaking, Legia were more than favourites to qualify further after yesterday's game. They didn't concede 2 goals at home for 9 months or something like this. And the statistics didn't matter, they conceded two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.

So...Basel's record against Eastern European teams won't matter. Reghecampf knows how to motivate his players. We always enter the pitch with more confidence than the opponent, no matter what team we meet.  

Basel is a strong team, don't get me wrong...I don't underestimate them, but Romanian fans are very optimistic and this is the way we treat other teams .

Well, let's see how the CL draw will pan out. Very likely you will have to take on completely different teams, though.

I want this group:

Manchester United - Schalke/Marseille - Basel/Galatasaray - Steaua Bucharest

This one seems to be acceptable.

Sociedad sold a key player, not their key player. They play great as a team and will be fine. Could even pull a Spurs or Malaga and reach quarters on this dry run in a long time out of the tournament like the other two teams I mentioned

Atletico is a team I think could be the sleepers and get far. They have a ton of cup experience winning a few Europas recently and managed to beat Madrid last years Copa de España and just gave Barca hell last week. They will come in with a great coach and great team that shouldn't be over looked

Atletico are my dark horses for this year too. Very solid team, great manager, if they don't fall in a group of death I tip them to reach QF at least.

Wonder if this year's CL will match last year's in terms of competivity, I mean Bayern and Dortmund are certainly a step ahead of the others, but Barcelona, Real, Juventus, PSG or even Chelsea and Man Utd can challenge on their day.

Honestly, I don't think this thread was needed, but I have nothing against it. We already have the 'UCL 13/14 discussions' and 'UCL Seedings for group stages'.

Maybe we can use this as a 'live' thread when the draw takes place at the time.

We can use the CL discussion thread for the actual games.

Quite obvious Arsenal will get:

CSKA
Olympiakos
Austria Wien

Bayer Leverkusen made it to Pot3

Barcelona/Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow/Schalke, Basel/Olympiacos and Steaua.

Ciprian why do you want us to play against CSK Moscow? They can be a tricky side. I want us to draw Marseille; not that the French side are a weak team, but in my opinion we have better chances to earn points if we face them.

Lucky us, because that is going to be a walk in the park. Which group are liverpool in this year? I am sure its probably a tougher group.
