Holy shit if they even get one of Pitt/Norton in let alone two. The cast would be glorious.

Re: True Detective || HBO
Saw it , True Detective..
I never gave them crime based shows a chance ; with detectives , or some other ones , the departments of this-and-that , figuring out stuff like geniuses and closing cases. Most of what i had watched was dumbed down for the masses , too quick-paced to be reasonable , something which lead me to not count the plot as significant , or the characters build up as important . I thought TD would be a polished and well made version of that.
Well , True Detective was all i ever expected from a show of it's kind. And more.
With a few words , it was intelligent , before anything else that's where i was sold.
It also had this dark and desperate about it atmosphere that i trully appreciate to watch in a drama.
The cast was excellent . The plot was excellent . Their lines were excellent. You can't believe how sad i am reading next season it will have new protagonists. That's how much i loved the character Rust , especially Rust. I even share some , if not most of his views and ideology as a person
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are two actors i've always liked and when M99 suggested to me i should watch the show , i never in the slightest expected such a duo as the protagonists. I was like "srsly , McConaughey and Harrelson? really?" It was simply , great everything .
It drags you in and it felt like the smallest detail was described or was carefully and intelligently put there , with the duo making every single second worth it. High quality stuff , i will definitely watch the 2nd season and i hope they can keep the high standard they established .
Just for once i enjoyed a crime show and i am grateful for True Detective. Want more.

What an ending.
Despite me not being a fan of slow paced and dialogue driven shows, the storyline itself was enjoyable, fascinating and gratifying.

Re: True Detective || HBO
I'd say it would be great to see one or even both of them in TD at any point , yet without knowing where the story will go and what everything will be about , i can't say i would support that idea , out of the blue .
Nothing to do with the characters not being up to the show , but simply , recasting the duo from BB into TD , without a plot and storylines that would suit them well , not sure if it will work as expected.
Unless we learn more about what next season is about , i think there's little to no point speculating. The success of the first season , is a job carefully thought and done , everything fit in like a glove fit a hand. They have to discover and evaluate this particular factor again , before anything else that's what i care , more than any names.

MT, pls stop this BB gimmick, it's poor written and the creative team should be fired for giving it to you.Yohan Modric wrote:They should try and get Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul imo.
Chastain is an amazing actress, and probably one of the best one out there right now. She could offer something really good for this series. i hope she gets a male partner though, really think Pizzolato could make an interesting dynamic with that combination.

AS long as the characters and the season is well written, I have no complaints. Chastain is a great actress.

Don't wanna be sexist, but as long as she has a male partner like someone above said.
Chastain would do good in a crime series of this sorts.

‘True Detective’ Season 2 Will Have Three Leads, California Setting
http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/true-detective-season-2-cast-three-leads-california-setting-1201193624/
This is straight from the show creator's mouth so it's 100% legit.

Re: True Detective || HBO
So.. I FINALLY managed to watch the end of it.
I had interrupted watching it in real time weekly after episode 5, at the point of being MAXIMALLY HOOKED, as I wanted to see the rest in one piece and then didn't get to it until now.
My reception might have to do something with this timing, but is anyone else too very dissappointed with the way they wrapped the thing up in the last two episodes?
I had the feeling of the show completely imploding in episode 7, everything they built up for me was rapidly deflating from the point where old Marty and Rust teamed up again to 'finish what they left undone'.
Now the final episode was well done again as a matter of execution, but then for me the damage was already done.
When before it was slow burning, with clues and discoveries coming and occurring incidentally, around corners and not straightforwardly, which made the whole thing so immensely suspenseful and interesting, suddenly it was all going rapidly and directly.
Like:
Go to the distant cousin guy, ask him about the scar-faced man, and he says "weird you would ask, yes I know him and as a matter of fact he ALWAYS looked funny at me"
Then go to the old black housekeeper ("how again did we find this woman" - "oh I checked this and this database" - "Great work Marty" ..) and she tells them he's a grandson and has a fit at the name Carcose etc.
Both checking in front of the computer, "name's Childress" - "like the SHERRIFF" - "Yes EXACTLY"
Please. That's too easy. That's like your regular cop show where viewers are expected to pay not too close attention and therefore everything has to be spelled out.
Everything falling into place, the relationship between Marty and Rust becoming simple best cop buddies again, Marty resolving stuff with his family, Rust finding religion and the after-life.
"The light is winning"
WTF! What is this shit!
Then the whole narrative structure with the two black cops and everything being narratively ambivalent, or suspicious, just dissolving into thin air.
The whole conspiracy in the end is just the one villain guy in his house, Tuttle gets disposed off in a simple straightforward flashback.
I feel like the makers couldn't pass the bar they had set up for themselves, and had much too little time to wrap it all up.
Feel really dissapointed.
Now please don't complain that I criticize the GOAT show, I wouldn't do so if I hadn't been utterly intrigued by it and expected more of it than your regular crime show.
Until episode 5 the thing was *bleep* FANTASTIC.
Of course I'm still looking forward to next season
...
As for Brad Pitt please no, LORD, HAIL MARY FULL OF GRACE, NO
Pitt is the worst actor out there, he's a joke.
His idea of playing a schizophrenic is scratching himself manically and making funny faces.
His idea of method acting is eating and chewing on something while saying the dialogue.
I just can't take anything seriously that he's in, even if it's overall a great film.

But no, Brad Pitt's actually good. Have you watched all of his movies?

Re: True Detective || HBO
Brad Pitt is an average to good actor tbh, he's only really good in movies where he's "making fun of himself" i.e. Burn after reading, Inglorious Basterds.
I would love a pairing of Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain or something, since they've both been rumoured, and both are fantastic. Robert Downey and Val Kilmer would be legit also, though it won't happen in any way

Thank you Freeza. THANK YOU.
I know I could not be the only one.
Feel the same. He's ok in some comedies, but just bad when he has to play drama, because then you can see only him trying hard to act, you cannot see the actual character.
In fact I really think Inglorious Basterds was Brad Pitt's best role, there he was fantastic. 'arrevedearrchie'
Disclaimer: I have not seen Money Ball. When I saw the trailer I remember thinking 'wow, Brad acted really well there in that scene' so that could be indeed good.
Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain. Sure why not.
But forget the Brad Pitt thing, am I the only one dissapointed by season one's ending?

Re: True Detective || HBO
I actually liked that the season 1 ending, was an ending that didn't wrap everything up in a nice little bow. In that sense it made it that much more realistic, since there's hardly ever a case that is solves the way it's portrayed in a lot of crime shows. I also didn't think their relationship was ever great, but at the end they just realized they only really have eachother.
Also Brad Pitt's worst role was in 12 years a slave, I have never in my life seen a more miscast role in my life, it's on the level of a Tarantino cameo without charm and humour, and looked like he just wanted to put himself in the movie.
