Napoli's eagerly-awaited meeting with Serie A leaders Roma has been brought forward 24 hours, meaning it will now take place on October 18 at 20:45CET.

The game at the San Paolo had been scheduled to go ahead on the first Saturday after the current international break but that would have seen the top-of-the-table encounter clash with a planned protest in Naples.

Given the strain that would have placed upon the city's police force, Lega Calcio has now decided to move the match to the Friday night.

"Roma-Napoli is clearly a game that must be played and it makes no sense that we pit ourselves against one another, but this solution causes more [logistical] problems for us than the Giallorossi," the Napoli supremo told reporters on Monday.

"The most important thing, however, is that a solution has been found that gives due prominence to the game.

"Right now we are talking about a match that can be considered as the game of games."

Roma have won all seven of their Serie A fixtures so far this season, while second-placed Napoli have dropped just two points.

Napoli plan 'unique' San Paolo

Napoli and the local council have announced plans to revamp the Stadio San Paolo. “It will be unique, just like the Neapolitans.”

President Aurelio De Laurentiis had threatened to walk away from the city and build a new arena in nearby Caserta if the deal was not struck.

“The Council and Napoli will work together for a stadium that is not inspired by any model, but will be unique, just like the Neapolitans,” said Mayor Luigi De Magistris.

“Napoli will soon have a stadium worthy of the team and the city. This is a challenge I want to win. De Laurentiis wants to make important investments into the San Paolo, which is currently used once every 15 days.

“We want to re-qualify the Fuorigrotta area around the stadium with spaces for music and entertainment. At the centre of it will be a wonderful stadium with the Napoli museum inside.”

There are three different options for how the deal will be struck. The first is for the Council to loan the land to the club for 99 years (the system adopted by Udinese and Juventus), selling the stadium to Napoli (which would take an extremely long time due to the problems with the current legal framework) or giving De Laurentiis the right to build on the land.

“What we can be certain of is that the restructuring will not prevent Napoli from playing at the San Paolo during the season, nor will the Council pay a single Euro, as it will all be done by private enterprise.

Anyone know what's up with Higuain? Last I heard he had a minor injury but hasn't played in weeks. He won't play for Argentina either apparently.

I'd say as much as he played, he was the best forward in the league. Got overtaken by Totti during his ban. You have to understand that Balo was carrying Milan all by himself. Unlike Totti who has De Rossi, Strootman, Pjanic and prime Gervinho for support, Balo has had Muntari, Nocerino, Birsa and Matri. This fckin injury crisis ffs.

8. Apart from your own, which team has the best fans ?
9. Apart from your own, which coach should be coaching your team ?
10. Who is the most violent defender in the league ?

Worth noting 50 players were polled and 26% didn't answer, which means that with 8%, only 4 of 50 players chose him. Nothing statistically significant there as 20+ players were rated on the list

So yes, 4 players in Serie A believe Balo is overrated

Balotelli's play for Milan has been great since he's joined. He does have a toxic attitude but him getting into it with refs will come as a relief compared to him getting into it with his own manager and players which is actually what's toxic about his attitude.

He scores penalties. Oh man, what a personally flaw. Baggio scored a lot of penalties too. So did Del Piero and Totti (another 'toxic' attitude).

I am biased, I've been a fan of his since he was at Inter and playing for Italy u21 but some of the hate this guy gets is too much, it's like people are just waiting for him to fail so they can point and say 'I told you so, I knew it'- I hope he returns from his suspension and does well, but even then it probably won't be enough to save this Milan side.

Yes, and we'll just conveniently forget the 2-2 draw of Milan vs Fiorentina in Firenze, to which was the height of refereeing incompetence via Paolo Tagliaventus.

But continue with the selective conjecture.

Again, you fallaciously point out my bias without ever proving any of my debates wrong, as per usual and resorting to useless ad hominem.

Fiorentina received more of the favourable calls, which serves to the point that Fiorentina were not victim of ANY injustice regarding their pursuit of 3rd spot.

Unless you can prove otherwise, don't bother then.

So you went from refereeing incompetence by 'Tagliaventus' against Milan to 'Fiorentina received more favorable calls than Milan'.Nicely done.Let me not forget Tomovic was given a BS red card(which for me was the biggest and most blatant call of the game) so early which put you in a clear 'unjust' advantage despite being 2-0 up.

And i'm sure the other poster wasnt referring to the Milan-Fiorentina game alone but incidents which occurred during the 2nd half of last season where Milan were most often at the receiving end of BS calls.I dont know if it was an 'injustice' to Fiorentina. As far as i can say they played well throughout the season and deserved the 3rd spot but like i said there were incidents where Milan were favored or rather they were very 'lucky' with some of the decisions.

One game alone is not consequential to the end of the season standings. Its how some your silly Milan brigade tend to believe they lost the 11-12 Scudetto because of Muntari's disallowed goal rather than blaming yourselves for your own incompetence.

Anyways i'm done arguing about last season.I'm not going to gain anything out of it apart from rustling few people's jimmies.
I'm going to watch with amusement how many of these Milan boys are going to moan and bitch about refs as the season progresses though.Would be a funny sight.

I'll take a breather for now.

The only person whose jimmies are getting rustled is you Laughing

As Mole said in the RB section: the hate is strong with this one.

I'm done arguing about ref calls, it is clear that calls against us are ignored and the calls for us are saved in a certain someone's hard drive. Selective memory at its best.

Regressed into an absolute joke of a poster, all you do is hate. Now it's Balotelli because some neutrals called him the best player of the league, later it will probably be El Shaarawy or Icardi.

Typical S posts:

*hate towards Milan*

*hate towards EPL*

*hate towards a hyped player*

When a hyped team flops: *insert team name* rofl

Seriously have a lemonade or something.

Awww adding me to his foes list and calling me kid cause he can't handle the truth. Does not have time for me but time to hate on Balotelli Proud Done with this joke  poster now, let's keep the thread relevant.

Angelli apparently said it will be hard to resist if a big offer comes for Pogba, saying Juve is not financially competitive with other European powerhouses. Juve fans or anyone else, did he really say that? Or is it goal.com twisting translations?
