Lol, I think the difference in time was more than a few days with Silva. Anyway, I see your point, but Roma is not under the same financial pressure that is restricting Milan's spending. Or am I mistaken?S wrote:Well if i remember correctly you guys extended Silva's contract with higher wages only to sell him to PSG a few days later.Forza wrote:Didn't DDR only recently sign that 6mil contract? Selling him to lower wages doesn't make sense at all so soon after agreeing to those wages.
He signed the contract last year as far as i know when there was heavy interest from Man City.

They are not, but compared to Milan in revenue they make very less infact which matters in terms of FFP.Forza wrote:Lol, I think the difference in time was more than a few days with Silva. How much do you think they would be making off that ? 20m ? 30m ? lol
If you check Forbes rich list ,they arent even in the top 20 of the highest earning clubs.Even Newcastle make more than them.

T'was a joke.
No shirt or kit sponsor for a whole year has to be hurting them financially too.

I think they'll switch to new shirt sponsor once they move to their new Nike kits next season.

Their sponsor this season is Roma Cares - I think that's their own sponsor that they just made up, no?

Yeah its the club's own charity foundation apparently.
All i'm saying is they could move to a more lucrative sponsorship deal if the opportunity arised.(Maybe next year)

Re: Italian Serie A/Serie B 2013-14 Discussion
Coach Walter Mazzarri says he has no regrets about his decision to leave Napoli and head to Inter this summer.
The Nerazzurri haven’t had the greatest pre-season in terms of results, while President Massimo Moratti is in talks about selling the club to Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir.
“Of course I’d make the same choice in coming to Inter,” he told the Corriere dello Sport on Thursday. “Why wouldn’t I?
“What made the difference for me in my decision was what the President said to me,” he explained. “His words ignited the fire inside of me.
“His discussion with me was beautiful and it instantly gave me motivation. We understood each other immediately.
“I already had a good idea about Moratti and Inter, that conversation strengthened my convictions. What we said will remain private, but, from that moment, I thought of nothing else apart from Inter.”
Mazzarri led Napoli to the Champions League last season, while Inter won’t be involved in European competition this term.
“I think that will be an advantage, but the hope is to be working with an Inter side in Europe next year. This is a club who can’t stay out of Europe.
“I have been given the impression that we can start from zero and that we can plan for the future. We will need a bit of time.
“A cycle comes to an end at every club and that needs to be accepted. Barcelona had some difficult years, but they got back to winning ways.
“You need the strength to lay new foundations, work hard and start again. That is the only way to be great again.
“This is a new challenge for me. I want to take Inter back to where they should be competing as soon as possible.”
On the team’s struggles so far, Mazzarri wasn’t too concerned. “People are interested in the results of summer friendlies, Coaches are not.”
..........
Must feel a bit bitter when you join a new club with a very limited budget and then your ex-club goes on a spending spree

I would take Inter more seriously if they signed Eto'o again. He's 32 now, but surely his age hasn't diminished his predatory striker instincts.

According to this article ,across Serie A as a whole, there have been 28,000 more season tickets sold compared to this time last year apparently.
Biggest increase i believe is from Fiorentina who've sold 22,000 this year compared to 12,000 last year.

I don't get that question for Mazzarri seeing as he just signed with inter... Plus how would he feel bitter when everybody knows that Napoli will sell cavani, mind uou they did spend quite a lot with mazzarr,i and inter don't have the financial capacity to spend 15-20 on a player
He made the decision cuz his time at Napoli was done, no more no less

Agreed, Mazzari's departure was merely a natural step for both club and man after he had given many years of service. He was able to leave the club on a good note and take on another project at a prestigious club. Whislt I'm sure he would love to have greater funds available, he was shown himself capable of developing a side without the need to invest on huge scales. Personally I believe that no matter which club he chose though, it was time for a new project for Mazzari. It is not that I believe he could not have taken Napoli another step forward but time does this to all coaches.

Viola are renovating the Franchi and will give the stadium an English style look with stands being closer to the pitch.Lets see if that has any effect in coming seasons.

Where does Strootman fit at Roma? From what I've been reading he sounds like a rich man's Bradley.

Then you should probably find new sources to read.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Where does Strootman fit at Roma? From what I've been reading he sounds like a rich man's Bradley.
Strootman is a creative CM who's best assets are his passing and forward play; Bradley on the other hand is a more rounded player who's equally adept going forward and backward. Bradley and Strootman would compliment each other very well as both are intelligent and talented enough to either hold as the other pushes forward (Bradley generally taking the holding role due to his superior tackling and reading of opponents' play) or carry the ball through midfield and begin attacks (Strootman the usual one to do this with his more attack-oriented focus and better passing to forwards).

Strootman will probably fit in like this:
De Sanctis
Maicon - Benatia - Castan - Balzaretti
Pjanic - De Rossi - Strootman
Lamela - Totti - Gervinho
