Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Did you ever think that perhaps it was because Cesc brought something to the position he was asked to play in that Thiago couldn't?
Why people have devised this Cesc vs. Thiago nonsense is beyond me.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
I don't think Thiago felt that he was going to struggle for playing time, and I don't think he expects more playing time at Bayern. Is it possible that the kid analyzed Barca's current setup, the regressive board and the uncertainty of Tito's position and decided to go to a more stable team, with a coach he can trust and an opportunity at a more consistent role?
The fact that he rejected United for Bayern says that to me. He isn't acting like someone mad at not getting minutes, he acted like someone who didn't have confidence in the current Barcelona organization to give him the best career opportunities.
Reducing it to Cesc stealing his minutes or something like that is ridiculous.

Agree, this is why I'll laugh so hard when Barca knocks out Bayern from the UCL next season!

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
I don't agree with this. One team called him a "super player" and guaranteed him minutes. The other didn't care if he stayed or went. United was not in the mix.Le Samourai wrote:I don't think Thiago felt that he was going to struggle for playing time, and I don't think he expects more playing time at Bayern. I disagree about the minutes and I disagree with the sense that Cesc's presence was a large factor. I agree Bayern and Pep showed him more love, which I suppose goes back to my point about him having more confidence in them.
How can you say United wasn't a factor when not 1 day ago his father and agent said he was close to joining United - confirming something which was extensively covered by just about every media outlet in both Spain and England.

Can you find quotes by Pere that said anything about United? I don't recall anything and a quick google search doesn't turn up anything. If Thiago says that United were never interested then I believe him over his father, who has a reputation as loving to read himself in the papers.

And the season before that you had to play 6 games against us to defeat us once. And yet most of you said that you humilliated us by winning the league with such a big difference?

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Like 2 years ago most of the Barca fans were saying that if Madrid don't beat Barca in La Liga it's like they didn't win it. Now what's has happened ?

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Thiago isn't a DM. He's an attacking CM. Not sure why Pep played him there.
In fact not even Schweinsteiger may succeed in the lone DM role in a 4-1-4-1. Martinez would the best option there.
