Official: Gian Paolo Montali Mutually Terminates Contract
A.Ş. Roma S.p.A. and Prof. Gian Paolo Montali have mutually agreed on the termination of his employment on June 30, 2011. A.Ş. Roma S.p.A. thanks the Director, who has been able to take on a role of great responsibility, nearly winning the scudetto in the 2009-2010 season and ensuring managerial stability and balance in a particularly sensitive time due to the change of ownership in the current season, thus confirming, in a harsh football environment, the qualities which had proven him successful in other sports.
Professor Montali, in wishing the new ownership the best fortunes, salutes the giallorossi supporters, the players and all his colleagues of these past two years with extraordinary affection. He also thanks Dr Sensi for granting him the trust and the opportunity to work in the most exciting sector of professional sports in Italy.

Really liked him honestly. Very nice guy from what I've seen and read of him. Defended our team ferociously when we needed him and he was crucial to our scudetto push back in 09-10 with his motivational skills.
Will sorely miss him, but I wish him all the best.

Very true. He was pretty much in complete charge of the team after Unicredit took over from Sensi and he did a good job. I would've liked to see him stay, but it would be practically impossible given that we already are in large numbers. He doesn't have the experience to be the CEO, so we went with Fenucci. He wouldn't have been able to take over the sporting director or advisor role, held by Sabatini and Prade, because that's completely out of his field. He is more of a managerial type and with Baldini as the new general manager, there was no place to fit him in. I'm sure he'll be able to find a good job somewhere else, either in Serie A or volleyball. He's gained a lot of popularity so we'll hear of him again soon enough.
