Hernanes-Matuidi will be the starting midfield and for atleast for a good 3-4 years to come.Hernanes is really a top class midfielder,near WC imo.

Dont see how Veratti can breakthrough here.

Blanc prefers the 352 or 433. He's Barca trained and SAF trained. He doesn't believe in 2 man mids philosophically. Played 3 mids at Bordeaux and at NT.

Hernanes is far far from happening anyhow. It's just a thought. They're thinking about keeping Rabiot to replace Chantome.

They're just preparing themselves for next summer where Silva, Ibra and maybe Veratti ask to leave/are sold. Cavani, Marquinhos and Hernanes would be the replacements so they wouldn't need to panic.

Remember that their 3 year timeframe where they are immune from FFP ends after this season. So they may not have the same flexibility next summer.

I understand the planning. It's not random. They're loading up while they can.

It's practically been confirmed that if/when Negredo leaves, Sevilla will go for Gameiro. Not sure what the price would be, though.

Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld has turned down a move to Norwich City, according to the player's agent.

Alderweireld's agent, Soren Lerby, rejected suggestions that it was Norwich's standing in the game that persuaded the 24-year-old to reject their overtures.

"The problem was not that Norwich didn't fit Toby's ambitions, but we simply failed to agree terms," Lerby told Algemeen Dagblad.

Alderweireld, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Amsterdam ArenA, has admitted that if a move does not materialise this summer he is happy to stay Ajax.

"There is still other interest and a transfer takes a long time," Alderweireld told voetbal.nl. "We're only in mid-July it can still be done. If a nice club comes, it can go fast.

"If there is nothing, then I'll just stay at Ajax.

Benitez hopes to secure Albiol deal

Rafael Benitez looks set to raid Real Madrid once again and bid for defender Raul Albiol.

The Spanish tactician has already brought Jose Maria Callejon to Stadio San Paolo this summer, and respected journalist Alfredo Pedulla believes that the Coach could make a move for the centre-back as well.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Santiago Bernabeu, with Pepe, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane all ahead of him in the starting XI.

There have been reports in the Spanish Press that a return to former club Valencia could be on the cards, but Benitez will hope to sell the Partenopei project to the Spain international.

Albiol is likely to cost around €8m.

Gameiro said in a post game interview yesterday that he preferred La Liga and Sevilla, but he had several other offers. Said that the fee proposed is not to PSG's liking. Finally said that he would give it a little time and, if no resolution is reached with Sevilla, he would take another offer in another league.

He didn't say which teams in which leagues had offered him.

Sevilla bid €15 for him iirc. I know he isn't worth that much since he is a back up but he really is a very very good player. he could easily get away with his way of defending (which involves clearing a ball high up the stands regardless whether he is pressured or not) compared to at Madrid where he is expected to get the ball and pass it to a team mate.

Everytime Albiol played last season he was good. you don't see any madrid fans cringing at the thought of this guy jumping in in a tough game in place of an injured/suspended defender. He isn't starter material at our club but he definitely is at Napoli/Sevilla paying €15mill for him will be good value money for them trust me.

my bad I read it wrong it said we bought him for that Razz

but my opinion still stands regardless of whether he is on the bench for us or not he is a very good player. He was never going to start over Ramos who is his competition so its quite frankly understandable that he was a back up player.

He has about 3 years left in him so the €15mill won't be a blasphemy and plus we need to recoup what we paid for him. If he leaves prepare it to be for over €10mill Laughing
