Re: PES 2014
Honestly i'm not having problems with goalkeepers at the moment but i suppose i could the more i play ( apart from how slow they are at coming out anyway)
Its shooting i'm having issues with at the moment, i just feel that my shots lack control and half the time don't really go where i want.
That could change with more practice i suppose and maybe i should try the advanced shooting and see if it helps.

So I'm hearing the FIFA vs PES debate is actually somewhat plausible this time around. For someone who hasn't played PES since since PES6 is the difference in gameplay enough to make up for the minimal licensing rights and Ultimate Team?

Re: PES 2014
Depends what your looking for really.
I say that because the online is still a pile of garbage.
I love the gameplay personally but for a lot of people the lack of game modes and serviceable online will turn a lot of people away.
Also the gameplay is on the completely over end of the spectrum to Fifa so as much as i like it as do many others it seems its quite possible for people used to Fifa coming and getting frustrated.
They really do play drastically different, its really a case of love it or hate it tbh.

IMO the only thing PES has over FIFA is the passing, and even that is marred by the shit cursor changing a lot of times. Just my opinion anyway.Gil wrote:So I'm hearing the FIFA vs PES debate is actually somewhat plausible this time around. Re: PES 2014
Well that's all there is really at the end of the day.... opinions.
Personally i just find the gameplay more enjoyable, deep, rewarding and satisfying.
The fact that a lot of media is praising PES for its gameplay over Fifa obviously means something is being done right even if Fifa is ( and it is) a still more complete package.
The only thing Gil can do really is try the demo and see if he likes it.
The only thing i'm going to say is apart from the differences in gameplay which makes it difficult for a Fifa player to get used to and master the online is crap so if you want online you might as well stay away.
One thing i want to say is from testing more this evening....
Advanced shooting is
Basically what is you control the height, direction and power of the shoot with the analogue stick... you have so much control over it and you feel you can put the ball exactly where you want it.
I love it.... does take a bit of getting used to though, i have been testing out the last couple of days and only just getting used to it but now i have i love it.

Re: PES 2014
Yeah for me, its not JUST the passing, the passing is just the biggest gap.
Though I will say, passing is how much of any football match? Real life or in games, its 75% of what happens so obviously its importance is high and it has a large overall impact on the game.
I played PES back years ago, before it was even ISS, before that I played FIFA and some time around 05 or something I went back to FIFA. 2 years ago I went back to PES, so what im saying is, I think I have a ton of experience with both games and one thing is for sure, I have no loyalty to either, whichever is better, im buying.
One thing which PES has over FIFA and has always had, is goalscoring. The goals are considerably less predictable and varied. FIFA to me often feels like recycled goals you have scored before, PES, even when the shooting mechanics are flawed, the goals are just "better".
But Mole is right, its just opinions, everyone has their own experience. Even on the same game different users experience it differently.

Re: PES 2014
Yeah i played Fifa every year this generation(ps3/360) till 2013 i switched because i had enough of the IMO boring gameplay.
I saw PES 2013 was available for £15 and thought id give it a try.
Also the biggest difference to me ( although this has been the case for years which has been expanded upon for 2014) is a sense of individualism.
Majority of players feel differently no matter if its Javi Martinez or Ozil they represent the individualism of each player better.
They move how they should( in some cases almost life like) how they captured Robben for instance is amazing right down to how walks around on the pitch.
if you are controlling Totti it feels like it and what an experience that is btw if you are controlling Pogba it feels like it and so on.
Even the Newcastle players are represented like that.... Sissoko makes driving runs but lacks technique and passing.... Cabaye has great technique and passing range but struggles in tight spaces to get away from his marker and even Marveaux has excellent close control and dribbling ability but lacks work rate and defensive ability of any kind.
I could go on and on really with other teams but that is the main difference to me and why i enjoy it more when facing the computer.

Ratings is not a measure of how good the player is on the game in PES.In other words they just dont matter. Its always been that way since PES 10.Older players usually have a higher rating score.Vibe wrote:WTF,faces suck. Also just looking at some of the ratings on youtube...These can't be real?

Re: PES 2014
Both FIFA and PES should consider getting rid of overalls. It's the individual stats that matter. Maybe they could have 5 mini overalls within a players profile. Like attacking overall, defending and 3 others. FM don't have overalls either.
Or the PES pentagon. So when you go to a player, the first thing on his profile you see is the pentagon stats. Then pressing R2/L2 would show the individual stats.

Re: PES 2014
Ratings don't matter in PES really.
Due to how well individualism is captured as i mentioned before.
A 79 rated player can easily be better than 85 rated player with the right tactics and style of play.
Also there is a reason why some of the stats are over the top....
The stats system has changed a little bit leading to some over the top stats.... but it really doesn't matter as mentioned before.
Now the horrible faces.... they do matter

It's not, however getting rid of them would require people to think more. They wouldn't just be choosing certain players due to their overall. I'm not saying everyone does that, but surely some must do, I do it occasionally too. It would mean people look at individual stats and think who would suit their team more. More tactical thinking in a way.Blue Barrett wrote:Why? Its not like is affecting the game negatively.

You should be doing that anyway.... at least in PES anyway and that's why they have the hexagon wheel as well as the OVR rating.Yohan Modric wrote:It's not, however getting rid of them would require people to think more. If people want to ignore the individual stats and the players that will suit them more for a higher OVR then that's on them but honestly they will lose more games with that line of thinking.

Re: PES 2014
The "rating don't really matter" argument is extremely poor. And Mole, you're talking like a
Low rated player can seem better than a high rated player is only in Pes.I played Better with Jadson then I did with 86+ rated players in Fifa 12 and no way is he the only case.
For a company that most of it's Fanboys claim it's so much better than Fifa for being "much more realistic" Having a guy like Sebastian *bleep* Frey on a 92 *bleep* rating.
Also,P
Ayer faces are horrible.Riquelme looks as close to himself in real life as I to a dog.

Re: PES 2014
Gameplay is a lot more realistic don't see how anyone could deny that and having higher stats doesn't impact on the gameplay really.
Ben Arfa for example is an 87 with great dribbling but is passing is inconsistent as his shooting.
Individual stats and traits are more important than the OVR.
Also its not an extremely poor argument its fact... personally i'd prefer some of these players to have lower ratings but really it doesn't matter that much when you look at the individual stats it doesn't have a major impact.
Also i never said its only like that in PES just i know for a fact in PES it works like that.... i never went into detail on Fifa like i have with PES to know if it works the same way.
And yes player faces are horrible.... nobody would deny that.

Re: PES 2014
Also there are like a hell lot of individual rating categories like short passing speed, dribbling speed, swerve etc unlike FIFA which is why you see the difference in overall rating score.
PES is tuned that way. They focus more on the individual ratings than the overall rating.

Individual ratings? Come on, thats for lazy people.
I barely even look at them at this point.
Dunno why people take it as such sacrilege.
Play with Cesc in defensive midfield and then play with Javi Martinez in defensive midfield and then tell me Cesc's higher rating (even in defensive midfield) matters.

I find Cesc pointless in the game unless you play him in the hole tbh
His inability to escape his marker makes him very poor CM in PES. ( or in real life )
Although give him time and space in final third and he's deadly.

Totti and Llajic partnership in this
Although i'm currently undecided between Florenzi and Gervais for the RW spot... rest of the team is very good though.
Also Tiote pls.
